TORCH - Together Our Resources Can Help

TORCH - Together Our Resources Can Help TORCH is a group of volunteers dedicated to helping children, families, and anyone vulnerable or needing help.

Lovely offer from Shambles Kitchen 💞

We need your help. Storm Dennis has ruined trade this week so we have loads of sausages left. Help us get the message out to the homeless or anyone else in York, in need of a feed. Please share, or tell them to come down today for a free Bratwurst at our stall near Pret in Parliament Street. We’ll be serving until around 4:30pm. The price is just £3 for those that can afford to pay to help cover wages and rent. Thank you Yorkies. 🙏

Hi all,

A local rugby club is hosting a children’s party on Saturday 14th December and are arranging a surprise visit from Santa.

Does anyone in the York area have anything suitable to help create a Santa’s Grotto?

Grotto props, ‘throne’ style chair, grotto backdrops, fake snow, Christmas trees, gazebo with side panels etc.

If you can help, please get in touch.

Thank you

Jason

Hi all,

I’m on the hunt for children’s winter survival gear!

If you have any of the following that are desperately needed in local primary schools in York, and are happy to donate them, please get in touch - drop off is in Burnholme, and may be able to collect.

Wellies
Warm/waterproof coats
Hats
Scarves
Gloves

It’s a sad fact that we have children in York who come to school in all the clothes they own. No playing out clothes, just school uniform.

If you see a neighbour taking their children to school without any of the above on, please consider offering to them first. This is what happened when I was growing up and gave you an amazing sense of community. This seems to have sadly been lost in many areas.

Thanks for reading!

Rowntree Park has been one of my favourite places in York since I was a small child.
I think it’s terrible that City of York Council no longer provide staff to look after this gem of a place.

If you fancy helping out, please get in touch with the Friends of Rowntree Park

Thank you,

Jason

Can you commit to 3 hours volunteering once every 3 weeks? If so please read on:

We are looking to recruit new volunteers for our Tuesday evening sessions which take place at the spurriergate centre on coney street
(Please note there are no parking facilities available at the centre)

These are 5.30pm to 8.30pm once every 3 weeks on a rota basis.

Duties include food prep, washing up, waiting tables, preparing drinks, setting up and closing down of sessions.

You would be required to attend at least one fund raising event each year which includes bag packing, quiz nights etc.

We will be holding a meeting for prospective new volunteers on Tuesday 10th September at 6pm which you would be required to attend.

If you can commit and would like to get involved then please message us so we can arrange for you to come along to the meeting. Please only get involved if you are able to attend the session times as shown above and commit to once every 3 weeks at least.

Volunteering with KEY is so rewarding and you’ll be made to feel very welcome, we do ask that over 18’s apply due to safe guarding etc.

Please share this with your children, it’s so important. Thank you 💞
