Wine Artisans / ღვინის ოსტატები

„WINE ARTISANS“ is a Natural winery near Gori, run by Andro Barnovi – its host winemaker and founder of the Association “Wine Artisans”. This is a not-for-profit organization for natural winemakers country-wide, who benefit from branding and marketing assistance as well as experience and knowledge sharing. For years, we helped the advancement of small artisanal wineries and wine tourism, while introducing annual wine fests, encouraging the establishment of new, and restoration of historic wine cellars, publishing special literature, and conducting workshops for local winemakers. Many of our former beneficiaries now independently operate as successful brands in various markets. The goal of the Association is to improve the quality of winemaking in artisanal small cellars, improve the knowledge base and the quality of vineyards, improve the quality of wine tourism, keep and make tradition while exploring new ways in winemaking, and take integral part in Georgia’s rebirth as a true wine cradle.
“Wine Artisans” means knowledge-based natural winemaking.

The grapes we vinify are 100% organic. Manic hygiene of vineyards and cellars, and sheer culinary take to winemaking are our main instruments as we try to take natural winemaking in Georgia to all new levels. We produce living wines – the ones that shine with health and have a natural resistance against deceases. The ones that age great in the bottle and only improve with time; the ones that develop in the glass and tell you the story of their terroir, of the vintage and bear “culinary fingerprint” from a winemaker. As experience sophisticates vision, we stop perceiving the grapes as just a cluster of berries at our disposal. Having different approaches to the skins, the seeds, the pulp, the juice, and the branches of grapes creates a pretty diverse playground for a winemaker. Each year, up to 15 different grape varieties are vinified at the “Wine Artisans” central cellar alone. These include natural dry amber wines and reds and roses that are full of tastes and aromas from nature.
