Arrangement of Pasture watering system under Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands.

Know-How Group (KHG) prepared detailed project design and tender documentation for the arrangement of livestock watering system on the selected pilot pastures of Naniani village in Gurjaani Municipality within the planned Project “Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands” funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

Project: Preparation of detailed project design and tender documentation for the arrangement of livestock watering system on the selected pilot pastures of Naniani village in Gurjaani Municipality

Client: The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC)

Donor: Global Environmental Facility (GEF), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Objective: Arrangement of Pasture watering system under Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands.

Location: Gurjaani municipality.

Contract was signed between Know-How group (KHG) and The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC) for preparation of detailed project design and tender documentation for the arrangement of livestock watering system and agroforestry measures on the selected pilot pastures of Naniani village in Gurjaani Municipality within the planned Grant Project “Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands” funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

Within the project detailed design was prepared for two locations Zemo Naniani and Kvemo Naniani. Detailed design was prepared for arrangement of the livestock water supply system.

The projects envisage the implementation of the works, including:

Arrangement of borehole
Arrangement of solar panel system
Arrangement of the water supply system
Arrangement of livestock watering system and watering tanks
A tender package was prepared based on the project detailed design documentation.

Know-How Group (KHG) prepared detailed Agroforestry Plan within the planned Grant Project “Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands” funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

Contract was signed between KHG and The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC) for preparation of detailed project design and tender documentation for the arrangement of livestock watering system and agroforestry measures on the selected pilot pastures of Naniani village in Gurjaani Municipality.

Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan was prepared for the project of Arranging Dighomi Meadows municipal park, planned within the framework of the loan agreement signed between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank.

The executive body of the planned activity is Tbilisi City Hall, and the implementing agency is the Tbilisi Development Fund.

The aim of the project is to improve the green environment of Tbilisi, to provide recreational and urban amenities for the city, which is due to its unique location on the banks of the river Mtkvari.

On March 7, 2023, a public consultation was conducted, involving individuals impacted by the project as well as other stakeholders.

The primary objective of this consultation was to disseminate crucial information regarding the upcoming rehabilitation period to the affected parties and other stakeholders. Beyond this, the focal point of the discussions was to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the aforementioned social document. This approach aims to ensure that the public is well-informed about all the planned activities and the various mitigating measures that will be implemented throughout different phases of the project.

During the session, the Resettlement Specialist presented the Livelihood Restoration Action Plan (LARP) to both beneficiaries and attendees with a vested interest in the project. This presentation was meticulously prepared in advance to effectively communicate the essential details.

On January 16th, 2023a contract was signed between Know-How group (KHG) and The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC) for preparation of detailed project design and tender documentation for the arrangement of livestock watering system and agroforestry measures on the selected pilot pastures of Naniani village in Gurjaani Municipality within the planned Grant Project “Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality Targets of Georgia through Restoration and Sustainable Management of Degraded Pasturelands” funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).

Under the Project and within the context of Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), Georgia aims to maintain and increase the amount of healthy and productive land resources in line with the national sustainable development goals.

According to land type (and tenure) demonstration of sustainable pastureland management practices and scaling up successful approaches are planned and involve a variety of appropriate approaches to avoid, reduce, and reserve land degradation.

The main purpose of signing the contract between KHG and RECC is to ensure adequate water supply for livestock, as well as to identify the necessary agroforestry measures for creating shade and improving pasture conditions, and preparing relevant detailed design and tender documentation.
