We are now entering the final stage of the Visionest Institute Export Consultants Mastery Program 🚀

This has been a demanding but very rewarding journey. Along the way, we have gained not only practical knowledge about export strategy, international markets, and modern sales approaches, but also a more structured understanding of how consulting creates real value for businesses.

What made this experience especially meaningful was the chance to connect with professionals from different countries, hear different perspectives, and grow our network in a truly international environment.

As the program comes closer to its final stage, we feel even more motivated to apply what we have learned in a practical way and create stronger opportunities going forward.

A sincere thank you to Visionest Institute for building such a valuable and inspiring program.

At SilkGate Consulting, we believe that export strategy is far more than just navigating logistics and market data. It is the art of capturing a brand’s soul and translating its unique story into a language that resonates on a global scale. 📈
In this video, our team reflects on the invaluable experience we are gaining through the Visionest Institute program. Our approach is built on a simple but powerful truth: to build a successful international strategy, you must first immerse yourself in the brand’s world, feel its environment, and connect with the people behind the craft. 🤝
What defines our strategic focus?
📍 Preserving Authenticity: Ensuring a brand's core identity remains intact during global scaling.
📍 Strategic Storytelling: Transforming emotional narratives into robust business frameworks.
📍 Cultural Intelligence: Conducting market research that goes beyond numbers to understand real-world cultural contexts.
A special thanks to our esteemed lecturers and mentors, Anu-Mall Naarits and Steve Rawling. Your expertise and global perspective are truly invaluable, helping us refine our skills and translate brand quality into a solid strategic framework for the international stage.
We are grateful to Visionest Institute and ESTDEV for this opportunity for professional growth. We are ready for the demanding yet deeply inspiring journey ahead! 🚀

Today exporting is no longer a single activity.

It is an ecosystem of data, logistics, compliance and partnerships.

I like to call this emerging system Export Cloud.

Here are the 5 layers that shape modern exporting.

☁️ From Paperwork to the Export Cloud

For a long time, exporting looked like this:

A desk full of papers.
Invoices printed three times.
Phone calls to customs brokers.
And the quiet fear that one missing stamp could stop a shipment worth thousands.

In the old system, a single document error could delay an entire deal.

But international trade is slowly changing.

Today we are entering what I like to call the Export Cloud.

Instead of fragmented processes — documents, logistics, market data, compliance — everything is becoming digitally connected.

What does this mean in practice?

1️⃣ Smarter documentation
Digital systems generate compliant export documents and flag errors before shipments leave the warehouse.

2️⃣ Real-time visibility
Exporters can track shipments, orders and market activity in one place — not across emails, spreadsheets and phone calls.

3️⃣ Faster market access
When trade processes become digital, information moves faster than goods — and decisions become quicker.

For countries like Georgia, where many companies are just starting their export journey, this shift could be very important.

Because the future of exporting may not belong only to companies with the biggest factories.

It may belong to those with the most connected systems.

At SilkGate Consulting, we see more and more businesses moving in this direction — toward more digital, integrated export operations.

And perhaps the real question is becoming this:

Is your export strategy still living in folders…
or already moving into the Export Cloud?

Why Key Account Management matters in export markets

In many export strategies, companies focus heavily on finding new distributors or opening new markets.

But sustainable growth often comes from something less visible:
strong relationships with existing key accounts.

Key Account Management (KAM) helps exporters move beyond transactional sales and build long-term partnerships.

When done right, it creates several advantages:

It improves client retention and helps maintain stable buyer relationships over time.
It makes deliveries more predictable and strengthens operational trust.
It allows companies to negotiate better terms as the partnership grows.
It also reduces risk by helping businesses anticipate challenges early.

Perhaps most importantly, effective KAM gives companies access to the real decision makers within partner organizations and builds the kind of trust that turns distributors into advocates for the brand.

In international markets, growth rarely comes from one big order.

It usually comes from consistent cooperation with the right partners.

That’s why Key Account Management is not just a sales function — it is a strategic tool for long-term export success.

Module 6 | Export Consulting Mastery — First Meeting with KABA

In the Visionest Institute Institute program, we often say that export is not just numbers, markets, and strategy.
In reality, everything begins with something far more essential — understanding the true world of the brand.

Today we had a special session:
we visited one of KABA’s stores — the very space where the brand “comes alive” from the very first minute.
Warmth, calmness, style, and pieces that quietly tell their own stories.
What you see on the shelves is actually the result of 17 years of work, constant exploration, and determination.

For us, it’s crucial to understand:
• What is KABA’s unique style?
• What does the customer feel when they touch the clothing?
• And which international market aligns with the brand’s character — Europe, the Caucasus, or the Middle East?

Today’s visit made one thing very clear:
KABA is a brand that can speak to both professionals and end customers through its story.

This is not fast fashion.
This is Georgian craftsmanship — the kind that deserves its place on the international stage, especially in markets where authenticity and quality matter most.

For us, this was the very first step:
to understand the essence of the brand, feel the environment, and connect with the people behind it.
Only after that comes the technical part — market analysis, positioning, competitor research, logistics…
And all of that works only when you truly understand the story.

Because the first step is — and always will be — the story.
And today, we heard KABA’s story directly from the source.

A special thanks to our lecturers and mentors, Anu-Mall Naarits and Steve Rawling. Their expertise and global perspective are invaluable, helping us translate every emotion and quality of the brand into a solid strategic framework for the international market.

Thank you to Visionest Institute Institute and Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) for this opportunity.
Ahead of us is a meaningful, demanding, but deeply inspiring journey.

🍷 an Uncomfortable Truth About Georgian Logistics

In export consulting, we often talk about successful contracts, new buyers, and containers shipped on time.
But real professional growth usually starts in a much less glamorous place — the moment you hit a barrier no one expected.

Recently, we began working with a small Georgian winery — a passionate producer with handcrafted wine and a clear request:
to ship a small export pallet.

The wine was ready. The buyer was ready.
But the logistics… were not.

Very quickly, one uncomfortable truth surfaced:
Georgia’s current logistics system is simply not built for small producers or micro-shipments.

👉 Minimum pallet requirements
👉 Disproportionately high cost per unit
👉 Consolidation services that exist “on paper,” but rarely in practice
👉 Customs processes designed for bulk exporters rather than artisan wineries with limited but high-value output

It’s disheartening to see a product that is truly market-ready —
yet blocked by a system that wasn’t created with small producers in mind.

A tough question emerged for us:
Do we tell the client that exporting such a small batch may be unfeasible?
Or do we search for a non-standard solution in a system that offers none by default?

We chose the second path.

We began researching, calling logistics partners, exploring alternative routes, and pressure-testing available options. The deeper we went, the clearer the pattern became:

This is not the problem of one winery —
it is a systemic challenge for Georgia’s small producers.

And this experience reaffirmed one of Silkgate Consulting’s core values:
honesty, responsibility, and standing beside the client even when the answer is complicated.

Export readiness is not only about having an excellent product.
It depends on an ecosystem — logistics, consolidation infrastructure, customs processes, and people who don’t walk away when things get difficult.

The structure simply does not support micro-exporters today.
Transport companies avoid small loads,
costs rise disproportionately,
consolidation almost doesn’t exist,
and the “small producer path” becomes a dead end far too quickly.

Our work on this case is still in progress.
We don’t yet have the final solution —
but we do have something more important:

a commitment to find a way forward, and a belief that small Georgian wineries deserve real access to global markets.

Because deserve to be heard — and tasted — far beyond our borders. 🌍

If you’ve faced similar challenges when trying to export small batches,
I’d love to hear your experience. Each shared story brings us one step closer to real solutions.

❓ Are you positioning your company as a real strategic partner — or just another supplier?

International buyers ask themselves only four questions before deciding if you’re worth a long-term partnership:

1️⃣ Why you over 20 other suppliers?
2️⃣ What unique value do you bring to me as a distributor?
3️⃣ How stable and predictable are your pricing and delivery cycles?
4️⃣ Does this company show partnership potential, or is it a one-off transaction?

The truth is simple:
Most Georgian SMEs have good products —
but lack a structured KAM (Key Account Management) system that keeps buyers engaged after the first conversation.

Silkgate Consulting helps companies build exactly this:
Strategic positioning → Value narrative → KAM routines → Export-ready communication.
