TODAY IN HISTORY!

Exactly 51 years ago today on 4th August 1974, Ghana🇬🇭 switched to driving on the right making it the last country in West Africa to change over from the left-hand driving system left by the British.
One of the legacies by the late Gen. I. K. Acheampong (1972 - 1978).

Ghana's rap Dacta! Okyeame Kwame writes..

Who is a Ghanaian ? When kwesi kwarteng became head of treasury in England I remember how we celebrated In Ghana as the mention of his name alone brought smiles to proud Ghanaians and finance students.

When Obama became president of America, most of us in Africa were very proud given that he was half Kenyan. Ethan Ampadu playing for the English national team makes waves for ghana everytime he steps on the pitch. Inaki and nico Williams developed their skill as world class footballers on a completely foreign land. When I mentioned Akua Kuenyehia (first Ghanaian judge at the hague) on my made in Ghana album. A lot of my fans were filled with joy.

So my question is; how do we feel as a people when a person of a different descent than majority of us is given a huge responsibility/role/honour in Ghana?

I write this because of my brother Kojo Choi. He was born in south Korea but moved to Ghana with his father at age 14. He scored 5 in BECE twi. Went to legon and became a proud vandal. Gave up on his Korean citizenship and must even take a Korean visa just to get to where he was born. He financially supported Akwesi Frimpong to represent Ghana in the 2018 winter Olympics.
You don't want to eat banku from the same bowl as kojo. He's fast🤣. Waakye suffers in his presence. He employs many Ghanians and treats them amazingly.

Long story short. Kojo choi is ghanaian. Not just because he holds our passport, but because he has immersed himself deeply in the Ghanaian culture. In my opinion, Kojo Choi becoming Ghana’s ambassador to Korea is a blessing to Ghana because he's a naturalised Ghanaian who has taken the pain to understand the nuances of the Ghanaian society, speaks Korean, and has a lot of experience in diplomacy when it comes to south Korea's relationship with Ghana.

Long story short, above everything else, the guy is my friend, my children call him uncle kojo. Let us support him to forge a formidable relationship between Korea and Ghana.

The issue of undocumented migrants flooding our country: Ghana is reaching alarming propositions, with many competing with citizens for the scarce resources. Worse, is the engagement in crime such as robbery, illegal mining, fraud, illegal trade (Petroleum) etc. by some of them typically from Nigeria, Niger, Togo, Burkina Faso etc, not forgetting the Chinese and Indians. The danger faced by their children who are left to beg for alms in the traffic in Accra and kumasi cannot be over emphasized. Danger is, if we don't find a way to control this free flooding of such immigrants, it may pave the way for terrorist to take advantage and besiege our peaceful country. This clampdown by the Ghana Immigration Service is therefore commendable and must be supported by all well meaning citizens. Let's not play any political game with this.
My humble opinion

Rest well Papa!

Francis became pope in 2013. In recent years, the 88-year-old was forced to cancel some events, sometimes at the last minute, because of his health.
