Following a distress call about the deteriorating condition of the Awudome cemetery, I immediately responded not merely with words, but with action.
My team and I over the weekend provided logistical support, equipment, five (5) truckloads of sand/gravels, essential resources and cash to assist with the restoration and maintenance of the cemetery. A cemetery is more than a piece of land as it is the final resting place of our loved ones and a reminder of the temporary nature of this life.
I would like to sincerely commend the dedicated volunteers who have continued working tirelessly, often with little recognition, to preserve the dignity of this sacred place. Your commitment is a beautiful example of community service and compassion.
Allah reminds us in Quran chapter 3 verse 185 that; “Every soul will taste death, and you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Resurrection.”
Standing among the graves, one cannot help but reflect on the temporary nature of this world. The people resting there once had hopes, plans, families and ambitions, just as we do. Today, what remains for them is the mercy of Allah and the prayers and good deeds of those they left behind.
May Allah accept every effort, reward the volunteers abundantly, and grant mercy to those resting in this cemetery.
