Perception is a process by which individuals organize and interpret their sensory impressions in order to give meaning to their environment.
Perception is important in our driving lives because people’s driving behavior is based on their perception of what the driving environment reality is and not on reality itself.
Drivers may behave in particular ways based not on the way their external driving environment actually is but, rather, on what they see or believe it to be. Making choices based on our perception of our environment shuts down picking of lots of information on the reality surrounding us. This is why it is very important to get the bigger picture before we make our choices in the road environment. Thread cautiously. Once again, don't forget to get the bigger picture.
