The Futur of Terrorist Threat
Most people in the United States were blindsided by the September 11 attacks which were geographically distant from most of the places in the world that foster terrorism and they did not expect such a brutal and catastrophic assault on the soil of the United States. Throughout the entire history of America, this was perhaps one of the moments that the enemy made his plans clearer or repeated them often. Is there a lesson for Ghana to learn as the gateway to Africa where activities of violent extremists and terrorism are on the increase on the African continent? As a country, we continue to receive threats in various forms which is more internally driven than externally manipulated. Yet, political authorities seem unconcern about this phenomenon and think that silencing individuals and groups in the law court are the needed solution to the myriad of issues that are building grounds for attacks. Inequality and injustices over local issues are welcoming grounds for terrorism and violent extremism. Ghana seems to be joking in proactively dealing with these real threats of youth unemployment and its attendant fumes.
