IT'S OFFICIAL — CIRIP GHANA GOVERNING COUNCIL SWORN INTO OFFICE
On Friday, 14th August 2026, our Governing Council was formally inaugurated at the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice, Accra. The ceremony was conducted on behalf of the Attorney-General by the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, who administered the oath of office to our newly sworn-in Council members, led by President Felix Addo and Vice President Victoria Bright.
It was a moment worth pausing on. What started in 2006 as a small group of professionals responding to a gap in Ghana's laws — with no clear legal pathway to rescue businesses that were struggling but still fundamentally viable — has, twenty years later, grown into a fully chartered institute with its own Governing Council, sworn in under the authority of the state.
In his remarks, the Deputy Attorney-General reminded the room why this work matters: trust and confidence are the currency of any economy. Just as people trust that their money is safe in a bank, businesses and investors need to trust that when a company runs into distress, there are skilled professionals ready to step in — professionals trained to prevent total loss and to save what can be saved. That, he said, is exactly what CIRIP exists to do.
President Felix Addo used the occasion to highlight the past journey honouring the founding figures who built this institute on a shoestring budget, often without pay — and to look forward. He flagged post-commencement financing for distressed companies as one of the Council's next big priorities, building directly on the NPL Forum work already underway with the Bank of Ghana. He also announced that Vice President Victoria Bright will lead the Council's advocacy and law reform efforts going forward.
For members, this milestone means a fully empowered Council is now in place to guide CIRIP's next chapter — strengthening training and certification, deepening public awareness of business rescue options,
