THE GOVERNMENT SERVANTS
Countries around the world have different ways of referring to their government but one thing that is certain is the name administration attached to the person (president). Here, we have Nana administration and in America is Trump administration. The same replicate to other sovereign state as well. People by virtue of vote cast legitimately confer on who received majority, the constitutional right to lead a sovereign state together with its representatives either through vote or appointment. The government machinery is key propellant to legacy attainment of any given administration and cannot be overlooked. The ministries, departments and agencies are key and critical. The same applies to representatives and servants working in the interest of government. The servants, who are the public and civil workers forms the main work force.Performances of these workers must be measured according to output/objectives, conditions of service considered, make available resources to operate and better payment to commensurate standard of living.
In taking these factors into account, appropriate check and balances must be instituted to enable government workers perform to the apex. There is a notion that, government work are too lenient and not worth dying for. This perception is long overdue and must not be tolerated this time. Time changes so should attitude towards public office work be changed. It is on record that, some public office workers goes to work as late as 10am and closes as early as 3pm.Within this time interval, there is lunch time which takes about one hour. Actual work performance is another factor. A lot of offices are over-staffing with few workers doing the actual work while the rest are redundant. This has made many workers to turn affiliate partners to other units for programmes to aid them send something home. In this, Per Diem, sitting allowance among others is guarantee. This has turned the main focus of many public workers. You can pay a surprise visit to various public offices and witness empty desks. The problems are not absence but present and have gone for programmes to send something home.
Mr. President, there are many public workers willing to sacrifice all but the lack of resources to keep units running and deliberate sidelined must be looked at.
