From trainee to Lab Assistant.

Meet Comfort, a Lab Assistant at Asanko Gold Ghana whose journey with us began through our Community Skills Development Program.

Through hands-on training in our assay laboratory, she gained technical knowledge, industry experience and greater confidence in her abilities.

For Comfort, that confidence meant feeling prepared to pursue opportunities across the mining industry. Today, she is building her career as part of our team.

Her journey shows what practical training can make possible: skills that lead to employment and confidence that people carry into the next stage of their careers.

Join us next Wednesday as we continue Building Local Capacity: Beyond the Mine.

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd. recently participated in the Ghana Chamber of Mines’ 7th Biennial Human Resource Conference.

Under the theme "Future-Ready People: Building the Workforce for Ghana's Next Era of Mining," the conference focused on talent development, succession planning and preparing the next generation of mining leaders.

Our Organizational Capability Manager, Ms. Rita Edusah, moderated a key session on talent pipelines, succession and leadership continuity. She was joined by members of our Human Resources Team, who connected with industry peers and exchanged insights on the future of work in mining.

They began with no previous laboratory experience. Today, 8 are employed at Asanko, while 2 have returned to school using savings from their stipends and earnings.

That's the outcome of our latest Community Skills Development Program cohort. 10 young people from our host communities received practical training in assay lab techniques, supported by a stipend helped them focus fully on learning.

This is what investing in our people looks like: practical skills creating pathways to employment and further education.

More than half of our graduates don't just finish the Asanko Graduate Training program, they build a career from it.

Since the Graduate Training Program began, 165 young Ghanaians have come through it, and 91 have gone on to full-time employment. That is a 55.2% conversion rate, evidence of what happens when practical training meets real opportunity.

Behind every number is a graduate building technical skill, gaining hands-on experience and growing in confidence. From engineering to geosciences, our graduates are developing the skills and experience to build careers that extend beyond the mine.

That's what the numbers add up to.

Next Wednesday, we open a new chapter with the Community Skills Development Program, following the people as they gain practical skills and create new opportunities for their futures as part of “Building Local Capacity. Beyond the Mine” series.
