We are a network of professionals providing advisory services to micro, small, medium and large enterprises (MSMLEs) in Ghana. It was registered in December 2017 as a company limited by guarantee with the Registrar General’s Department of Ghana. BASPAG supports private sector growth through the development of a well-organized and competent body of professionals to contribute towards the emergence of an appropriate entrepreneurial system. Though BASPAG principally work with MSMLEs, it also engages with various other actors including financial institutions, government, development organizations and research institutions, BASPAG was born out of the USAID Financing Ghana Agriculture Project’s (USAID FinGAPS) Business Advisory Service (BASI providers’ network. The BAS providers (43 including six female-led BAS firms) have in the last four to five years partnered USAID FinGAP to facilitate approximately $45 million in financing from 28 financial intermediaries for 260 agribusiness enterprises in the maize, rice and soy value chains to expand capacity and enhance food security. The financing accessed by these agribusinesses has benefitted a total of 61,934 smallholder farmers (26,266/42.496 of whom are female) in the North of Ghana. Services provided by BAS providers include the preparation of business plans, packaging and presentation of viable agribusiness opportunities to financing institutions for investment and restructuring of delinquent loans. The BAS providers whose capacity has been built by USAID FinGAP through trainings in value chain finance facilitation have organized themselves under the umbrella of BASPAG to facilitate more deals across diverse sectors.
