Wise words
"Letter to my Younger Self"
✍️
Let me remind you of what father used to tell us as we were growing up. You know, you were a son of a missionary. A father who has scarified his youthful life for the course of the gospel- "to seek and save that was lost in sin". I can remember while growing up, he used to teach us about Jesus, and the biblical ethics of life. Can you remember some of his counselling and teaching?
Let me remind you if you have already forgotten some of his words of advice and wisdom. I would never be here without his words. Everything he said has come to pass for me and I know would be the same for you.
#01: PUT GOD FIRST ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE
Have you forgotten this now? Hay, remember, father used to teach us that if we make God first, He will make us the head and not the tail. You may be occupied with your studies, and other activities but remember to put God first above anything else. If you do this, you will always be above and lead others before you.
#02: EDUCATION COMES SECOND
Not women or girls, young man. The next thing father used to teach us was to seek education first before women. When God is in His rightful position, the next thing to follow suit is education. Search for education like a precious jewel. It will pay you dividend in the long run. Getting educated must be of higher importance than anything else. If you fail, don't stop there. Education doesn't end in failure. You just discovered an option to being educated that did not work for you. Go try again. Winners are opportunity chasers.
#03: REMEMBER GOD IN YOUR YOUTH
When you do the first and second, success sets in. You would be the head and not the tail. When you are prospering, there is higher tendency to leave God. Did you hear what I just said? You can leave God if you're not wise. What you enjoy in life is a blessing from God. Count them as blessings. Never think that you earned them by your own strength and virtue. Acknowledge God as the source and giver of every good gifts. When you are blessed abundantly, invest them in the business of God's Kingdom. Whatever you do for the Lord is an investment and not a loss. Always remember that young man. Hold onto God in your youth. The experience is sweet.
#04: A WOMAN OF VIRTURE COMES FROM THE LORD
Young man, dont chase for women everywhere. Instead, ask God for your right rib. A woman of virtue is not in the club, in the street, or public places. You may think they are in the church too. No, not always true, young man. God has created you with the plan of whom you should marry in life. You were not created by accident. Life is not accidental. The problem you are having is the pressure to follow you own heart. You will go wrong right there if you persist with the peer pressure around you. Ask God, tell Him, He alone can bring the right woman of virtue to you. Remember this, " marriage is Holy and Sacred". Don't play with it.
#05: WORK HARD, WORK HARD
Nothing comes easy young man. Nobody can feel pity for you for nothing. Whatever your hands find it to do, do it with all might knowing that today will never repeat again tomorrow. Always find something to do. Don't be lazy and ask people for food. You should be the one feeding them. Education is a job, work well on it. Employment is a job. Treat it with dignity. Whatever little you are doing, do it well with your heart. It will pay you dividends.
It is my desire to see you prospering in life. If not this life, there is always a better life coming for you.
With love,
Your senior brother,
Goshen Kili
