Why Vaginal Licking Is Medically Unhealthy.
Vaginal licking, medically referred to as cu*******us, is a common s*xual activity but can be associated with several health complications if precautions are not taken.
1. Transmission of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Engaging in oral s*x can spread various bacterial and viral infections from the mouth to the ge****ls or vice versa.
Viral Infections: Herpes (HSV-1 and HSV-2), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and Hepatitis B can be transmitted through oral-ge***al contact.
Bacterial Infections: Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and Chlamydia can infect the throat or the va**nal area through oral s*x.
HIV Risk: While the risk of transmitting HIV through oral s*x is extremely low, it can increase if there are open sores, bleeding gums, or cuts in the mouth or ge***al area.
2. Disruption of Vaginal Health
The mouth contains billions of bacteria and fungi that differ from those in the va**nal microbiome.
Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): Introducing oral bacteria can disrupt the natural balance of the va**na, potentially leading to BV, characterized by a fishy odor and unusual discharge.
Yeast Infections: If a partner has oral thrush (an overgrowth of Candida), they can pass the fungus to the va**na, causing a yeast infection.
pH Imbalance: Saliva has a different pH than the va**nal environment, which can temporarily alter the va**na's acidity and make it more susceptible to infection.
3. Other Complications
Oral Cancers: Certain high-risk strains of HPV transmitted through oral s*x are linked to an increased risk of developing cancers of the mouth and throat.
Intestinal Infections: If oral contact extends to the a**l area (a**lingus), there is a risk of transmitting intestinal parasites or bacteria like E. coli, Giardia, or Hepatitis A via the fecal-oral route.
4. Prevention and Safety
To reduce the risk of complications, health organizations recommend the following:
Barrier Methods: Use a dental dam (a thin square of latex or silicone) or a cut-open condom to prevent direct contact between the mouth and the va**na.
Regular Testing: Ensure both partners are regularly screened for STIs, as many infections can be asymptomatic.
Hygiene: Maintain good oral and ge***al hygiene, but avoid douching after s*x, as it can further disrupt va**nal flora.
