Team Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) participated in the just-ended Quarterly Review Meeting of the HAPPY Program Consortium, where they shared important reflections on programme sustainability and impact measurement three years on.
During their presentation, the team among other things noted that “input support, even at 100%, is insufficient to roll over production to the next cycle.”
MiDA explained that even when farmers recover the full cost of inputs, rising input prices from season to season mean the same amount can no longer sustain the same acreage in subsequent production cycles.
The team also stressed that “activity count does not equal dignified and fulfilled job opportunities,” emphasising that reporting completed activities alone is not enough to demonstrate meaningful impact on a young farmer's dignity, resilience, and financial well-being.
