Team Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) participated in the just-ended Quarterly Review Meeting of the HAPPY Program Consortium, where they shared important reflections on programme sustainability and impact measurement three years on.

During their presentation, the team among other things noted that “input support, even at 100%, is insufficient to roll over production to the next cycle.”

MiDA explained that even when farmers recover the full cost of inputs, rising input prices from season to season mean the same amount can no longer sustain the same acreage in subsequent production cycles.

The team also stressed that “activity count does not equal dignified and fulfilled job opportunities,” emphasising that reporting completed activities alone is not enough to demonstrate meaningful impact on a young farmer's dignity, resilience, and financial well-being.

Meet Team TechnoServe, consortium partner of the HAPPY Program, at the recent Quarterly Review Meeting—and they didn’t come to play 😄🌱

During their presentation, TechnoServe among other things made a strong case that catalytic funding and micro-grants, while important, are not sufficient on their own to enable dignified and fulfilling job opportunities or sustainable businesses.

Their message was clear: real impact needs a full package—starter pack, capacity building, and strong market linkages 💼🚀

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO FARMERS 📌🌧️☁️

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO FARMERS 📌🌧️☁️

Fresh Logistics' Francis Awumee writes:

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO FARMERS 📌🌧️☁️

Over the last 24 hours, some areas in Ghana, including Cape Coast, have experienced very limited sunlight, with barely 3 hours of consistent sunshine recorded.

How is the situation in your region?

Extended cloudy and wet conditions can significantly affect crop performance. During this period:

• Nutrient uptake by plants reduces
• Disease pressure increases due to high moisture and humidity
• Crop cycles, especially for cucumbers and other vegetables, may shorten

Farmers are therefore encouraged to be adaptive and intentional with their crop nutrition and disease management strategies during these weather conditions. Zoom in and review the recommendations attached for learning, reminder, and practical application where necessary. These measures can help reduce the impact of the current weather conditions on crop production. Let’s stay proactive and protect our farms. 🌱💪

Cheers
