On 12th August, 2026, I had the distinct honor and privilege of joining the Management of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), led by our Chancellor, Dr. Kwame Addo-Kuffour, University Governing Council Chairman, Professor Edward Brenya, and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, alongside esteemed members of the University Governing Council, on a courtesy call to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace during the celebration of the 6th Awukudae Festival.

For us at KsTU, this visit was far more than a ceremonial duty. It was a deeply meaningful opportunity to pay homage to His Majesty, seek his wise counsel and royal blessings, and reaffirm our unwavering respect for the rich culture, traditions, and heritage of Asanteman.

As Pro Vice-Chancellor, I am constantly reminded of the vital role that traditional leadership plays in driving educational advancement and societal development. Our engagement at Manhyia further reinforced the strong, longstanding bond between Kumasi Technical University and the Manhyia Palace. It highlighted our shared commitment to building impactful partnerships that advance TVET, innovation, and tertiary education across the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole.

I extend our profound appreciation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his warm reception and his continuous goodwill toward KsTU. His vision for education, youth empowerment, and national development remains a guiding light for our institution.

The 6th Awukudae Festival is a significant milestone on the Asante calendar. A powerful celebration of unity, culture, and enduring values.

Participating in this historic occasion renewed our resolve at KsTU to work hand-in-hand with key stakeholders, traditional authorities, and our community as we pursue academic excellence, technological innovation, and sustainable development.

I was delighted to receive the newly elected executives of the Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG), Kumasi Technical University chapter, who paid a courtesy call to formally introduce themselves.

The visit provided an opportunity to interact with the leadership team and discuss their vision for advancing the interests and welfare of graduate students. I congratulated them on their election and encouraged them to lead with integrity, dedication, and a spirit of collaboration.

I wish the executives a productive and successful tenure and look forward to their meaningful contributions to the continued growth and excellence of Kumasi Technical University.

I was honoured to serve as Moderator for the panel discussion on “Building Inclusive & Supportive Structures in Engineering Education and Workspaces to Promote Work-Life Balance” at the CEEA Africa Summit 2026, hosted by Academic City University, Accra, on 22nd May 2026.

I had the privilege of moderating an engaging discussion with an esteemed panel comprising Prof. Vincent Agbodemegbe (Nuclear Power Institute, GAEC); Ms. Amma Aboagye-Danquah (Associate Director, Imperial Global Ghana); Ing. Dr. Peace Amoatey (Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Ghana); and Prof. Joanna Salifu Yendoik (Centre for Disability Studies, University of Ghana).

The discussion provided a valuable platform to engage with distinguished professionals and thought leaders on the importance of creating inclusive, supportive, and sustainable environments within engineering education and the workplace.

One of the key takeaways from the session was the realization that building inclusive and supportive structures in engineering education and workspaces is not just about improving work-life balance—it is about shaping a culture where innovation and well-being go hand in hand.

As an academic and engineering professional, I remain committed to advocating for systems that promote diversity, mentorship, innovation, and work-life balance, particularly for women and young professionals pursuing careers in STEM fields.

I am grateful to Academic City University and the organisers of the summit for the opportunity to contribute to such an impactful conversation aimed at shaping the future of engineering education in Africa.

I was particularly pleased to welcome and engage in high-level strategic discussions with Prof. Aliyu M. Aliyu and Mrs. Celestina Ezenwajiaku from the University of Lincoln, together with Ing. Dr. Joseph Ribeiro from Kumasi Technical University.

As the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University, our discussions centred on strengthening long-term institutional collaboration between the University of Lincoln and Kumasi Technical University. We explored key areas including expanding our existing research collaboration and innovation-driven initiatives that will end in more meaningful opportunities for both staff and students.

These discussions reaffirmed a shared vision for advancing engineering education and strengthening global academic cooperation. It is encouraging to see the clear alignment between both institutions and a mutual commitment to building sustainable partnerships that enhance research excellence, innovation, and student development across borders.

I remain committed to fostering collaborations that bridge academia, research, and industry, and that position our institutions to contribute meaningfully to global engineering and technological advancement.
