Today, Saturday, 8th August, 2026, our Executive Director visited one of the leading bookshops in Tamale with a colleague to purchase a book titled โMindset,โ recommended by Engineer Suleman Zakaria
As he searched through his phone for the title, a friendly sales lady smiled, looked at his screen and immediately picked the book from the shelf.
He then asked if they had a few other books in stock.
Unfortunately, they didnโt.
What happened next turned an ordinary shopping experience into an unforgettable lesson.
Her: โWhy donโt you pick some other books?โ
Our Executive Director: โNoโฆ I want to finish reading this one before buying another.โ
She smiled: โI thought you wanted to build a personal library.โ
Our Director laughed: โI do. But my schedule is too busy. Iโd rather read one book at a time.โ
She wasnโt convinced: โIf you dedicate just one hour and thirty minutes every day to reading, you can finish two books every month.โ
Our Executive Director: โHonestly, I donโt think I can make one and a half hours every day.โ
Without missing a beat, she replied: โThen make it just 30 minutes a day. One book every month is still twelve books a year.โ
There was a brief silence.

Her: โBooks like these donโt just give you knowledgeโฆ they make you competent, useful, and valuable. Sometimes, thatโs even more important than simply collecting degrees.โ
Our Director paused and smiled.
He thanked her sincerely, exchanged a few pleasantries, promised to return for more books, and made his way to office.
