Big respect to Jizzle for dropping “Heavyweight” — the energy, the confidence, and the message all hit differently. One thing I’ve always respected about him is how true he stays to himself and his craft. No matter the level, no matter the pressure, he keeps pushing his own sound and representing Gambian music with pride. That kind of consistency and authenticity is rare, and it’s exactly why people continue to support and believe in his journey.

“Heavyweight” already shows that he’s coming with a different level of maturity, hunger, and greatness. If this is just a taste of what’s coming, then the EP is definitely going to be something special. You can hear the growth, the dedication, and the passion in the music, and that’s what makes real artists stand out from the rest.

The Gambia is full of talent, and artists like Jizzle continue to prove that our music industry is capable of reaching bigger heights. This was Naffisatou Sanneh, the young woman whose body was found in the bushes near the Sheraton Hotel in Brufut last month. She was a Grade 10 student.

In an interview with Nfally Fadera on Bitilo, her mother said Naffisatou dreamed of becoming a nurse.

But that dream was cruelly cut short.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown. Her body was discovered in the bushes without any visible bruises, leading many to suspect that she was k!lled elsewhere and later dumped there.

Naffisatou’s tragic death adds to the growing number of young women whose murdèrs remain unsolved.

May Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
