WAFU A CAF U-17 AFCON QUALIFIERS, DAKAR 2026.

FINAL

The Gambia U-17 Scorplings are champions of WAFU Zone A.

In a pulsating, nerve-shredding final against hosts Senegal, the Scorplings showed heart, grit and unbreakable team spirit to dethrone the reigning champions 5-4 on penalties after a hard-fought stalemate.

Gambia's hero of the hour was goalkeeper Vanou Gomez. The shot-stopper produced a moment of pure brilliance, pulling off a heroic penalty save at the death of regulation time to deny Senegal victory and force the shootout.

And he wasn't done. In the post-match lottery, Vanou rose again, saving another spot-kick to seal Gambia's right as champions of WAFU A.
