Today, the innocent Gambian youths whom President Adama Barrow and his government have thrown into prison like criminals have taken the courageous step of going on a hunger strike, a peaceful yet powerful act of protest. Their lives and wellbeing now rest in the hands of President Barrow, along with his Attorney General and his Inspector General of Police.
Let it be known: if any harm comes to them, the entire Gambian youth will hold you directly accountable. And the international community, now alerted, will stand as witness.
The world will hear us, not through violence, but through the power of truth, unity, and resistance. And if you continue down this path, history will remember your name not with admiration, but with a stain so vivid that no amount of soap, no spin of state machinery, will ever wash it clean.
Ask the leaders who came before you, those who suppressed the voices of their own youth, who made life unbearable for the very people they were meant to serve. Where are they now? What legacy did they leave behind?
Your presidency, too, shall pass, Mr. President. But how it passes, and how you are remembered, is now in the hands of the very youths you are suppressing .
We demand the immediate release of our brothers. We demand justice. And we will not be silent.
