From Kickoff to Launch: EU ERASMUS+ AGREEN GAMBIA Project 🇪🇺🌱
As the lead implementing partner for Work Package 5 (WP5), the Gambia Startup Chamber of Commerce (GSCC) is responsible for driving dissemination and sustainability efforts under the AGREEN GAMBIA Project.
This week marked a significant milestone with the successful rollout of the EU ERASMUS+ AGREEN GAMBIA Project, bringing together International partners from Spain, Croatia, Ireland, and The Gambia, including the Ministry of Youth & Sports through the Gambia Songhai Initiative, and the The Gambia College (School of Agriculture).
The journey began on Wednesday 15th April 2026 with a productive kickoff meeting. On Thursday, the project team conducted a site visit to better understand the local TVET and agricultural landscape. The week culminated in the official launch on Friday.
The AGREEN Gambia Project, launched at a cost of approximately D34.5 million, aims to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in The Gambia. With a focus on climate-smart agriculture, digital learning, and practical skills development, the project seeks to better prepare young people for the demands of today’s job market. It is supported by international partners, including INFODEF, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences (FAZOS), and INNOQUALITY SYSTEMS, who will provide technical expertise and share best practices.
During the launch, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Lamin Camara, stated that:
“AGREEN Gambia represents hope and a sustainable future, equipping our youth with the skills needed to drive climate-smart agriculture and national development.”
European Union Deputy Head of Mission Raphaël Brigandi also noted that:
“This initiative is about strengthening skills, creating opportunities, and ensuring young Gambians can actively participate in a sustainable and growing economy.”
Our board member, Modou N. S. Njie, also stated:
“As the lead partner for dissemination and sustainability, GSCC is committed to ensuring the visibility, long-term impact, and success of the AGREEN Gambia Project.”
