Yesterday, we were delighted to host 8 brilliant students and 2 teachers from Fojanga Academy Nursery & Lower Basic School at the Precious Plastic Gambia Recycling Center.

The visit combined both theory and practical learning, giving students the opportunity to explore plastic recycling firsthand. They learned about waste management, operated the shredder and injection machine under supervision, and even created their own recycled plastic rulers.

Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to protecting the environment were truly inspiring. We look forward to welcoming them again as we continue empowering young minds to become champions for a cleaner, greener Gambia.

Today, we were delighted to welcome Level 2 students from SBEC International Lower Basic School to Precious Plastic Gambia for an engaging learning visit. The students showed great curiosity and enthusiasm, asking thoughtful questions about plastic waste, recycling, and how everyday actions can help protect our environment. It was inspiring to see young minds eager to learn about sustainability and the circular economy. We believe environmental education is key to creating a cleaner and greener future, and we are proud to play a role in that journey. Thank you, SBEC International, for visiting us today..... looking forward to more of such engagements.

We are grateful for this collaboration and the opportunity to keep the conversation on waste management alive. Remember the hierarchy: Refuse, Reduce, and Reuse plastic first - and then, Recycle as a final resort. A huge thank you to everyone who participated! ๐Ÿ‘

Earth Day 2026: Collaboration in Action ๐ŸŒโœจ

Our mission for Earth Day wasnโ€™t just about the cleanup; it was about fostering lasting change through education. We believe that a cleaner future starts with understanding the value of what we throw away.

This week, we led comprehensive training sessions focused on Plastic Segregation, working directly with:

Rangers at : Equipping them with the technical knowledge to manage waste within protected wildlife habitats.

The Gunjur Community: Engaging local members on how to properly sort and prepare plastic for the recycling pipeline.

By teaching the community how to bridge the gap between "litter" and "recyclable material," we are combating the burning, burying, and mismanagement of waste while improving the health and livelihoods of our people.

We were also proud to host two hours of dedicated education sessions for 36 students from Gunjur Kajabang, and Madina Salam through the study class, empowering the next generation of environmental stewards.

Following the training, volunteers put their skills to the test, clearing plastic waste from the Abuko Nature Reserve and the Gunjur coastline. Pollution remains a critical threat to our wildlife, and through these vital collaborations, we remain committed to protecting The Gambiaโ€™s biodiversity.

A huge thanks to our partners for coming together to honour this important milestone:

Join us on Saturday 25th April - refreshments will be provided for all ๐Ÿฅ– ๐Ÿ’ฆ

This initiative highlights the power of partnership in tackling environmental challenges. By bringing together community groups, government bodies, and international supporters, the clean-up aims not only to remove waste from our coastline but also to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect marine ecosystems. A cleaner beach means healthier wildlife, stronger local livelihoods, and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

At Precious Plastic Gambia, we prove every day that waste is a resource, and our aim is to turn "Trash into Treasure". By diverting plastic waste from landfills and the ocean, weโ€™re able to recycle and manufacture a diverse range of products, from intricate small accessories to heavy-duty furniture.

โ€‹The team has recently been busy making chairs for a nursery school - transforming discarded plastic into comfortable, practical furniture for the next generation. This is the Circular Economy in action: turning local pollution into local solutions! ๐ŸŒโœจ

โ€‹If you're interested in supporting a local school with chairs or tables, then please get in touch. We can custom-make them by size and color depending on the plastic waste we have available at the time!
