A few reflections and key takeaways from the 2026:

1. Africa’s digital economy is growing rapidly.
The conversations around AI, digital infrastructure, and innovation made it clear that Africa’s next wave of growth will be heavily driven by technology.

2. Young people remain Africa’s greatest asset.
Across different sessions, youth empowerment, skills development, and entrepreneurship remained central to discussions about the future.

3. Collaboration matters more than competition.
Governments, startups, investors, institutions, and development partners all have a role to play in building stronger innovation ecosystems.

4. Remote work and digital opportunities are opening new possibilities for Africa.
With the right skills and systems, more young Africans can access global opportunities regardless of location.

5. African solutions deserve global visibility.
Many of the conversations reinforced the importance of building local solutions that can scale globally while responding to African realities.

C O N N E K T is proud to have represented The Gambia at the 2026 held in Nairobi, Kenya from May 11th–12th, 2026.

Through the support of France in the Gambia, the France-African Foundation, and Gambia Tech, was selected to participate in this high-level continental gathering bringing together over 30 heads of states, policymakers, investors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and development leaders from across Africa and France.

Represented by our Founder, Abdou Karim Badjie, the summit was officially opened by His Excellencies, President Emmanuel Macron of France and President William Ruto of Kenya, highlighting the growing importance of Africa–France collaboration around innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, AI, investment, and youth empowerment.

For us at , these conversations strongly align with our mission of training and connecting talent with businesses, empowering young people, and creating opportunities through digital innovation and collaboration.

We are grateful for the opportunity and remain committed to building a future where more young Africans can thrive digitally and contribute meaningfully to the continent’s growth.
