We don’t have an ALMP problem.
We have a system failure.

Last week, ACRONYM co-organised (with HAEA) a Community of Practice (CoP) session in Greece under EU-ALMPO, bringing together policymakers, labour market institutions, researchers, and practitioners.
What emerged was not a debate — but a convergence and a warning.

⚠️ The uncomfortable truth:
ALMPs are not underperforming because they are poorly designed.
They are underperforming because they are not operationalised.

What stakeholders actually said:
▪ Data exists — but is not used in decision-making
▪ Mechanisms exist — but don’t work together
▪ Policies are evaluated — but not improved
▪ Governance exists — but systems don’t run

🔻 The real disruption:
AI will NOT fix this.
AI can:
✔ match
✔ analyse
✔ predict
But it cannot:
✖ coordinate institutions
✖ fix workflows
✖ replace implementation logic

💥 Let’s be precise:
Most ALMP reforms fail before they even start.
Not due to lack of:
→ tools
→ data
→ ideas
But due to lack of:
→ system architecture

🧠 The shift we need:
From policy design → policy ex*****on systems
From data availability → data in decisions
From governance structures → governance in motion

🚀 Where EU-ALMPO intervenes:
Not another report. Not another tool.
👉 A policy intelligence infrastructure connecting:
• evidence
• data
• AI
• decision-making

If your ALMP system cannot adapt in real time,
It is already outdated.

📊 Why Your Input Matters: EU-ALMPO Survey on AI & Labour Market Policies

Many discussions around AI in labour market policy remain theoretical.

EU-ALMPO takes a different approach.

We are collecting direct input from policymakers, Public Employment Services, and practitioners to understand how policies actually work in practice—and where they fall short.

The ongoing survey focuses on:

• real challenges in managing and adapting ALMPs
• how data is currently used (and where gaps exist)
• where AI can realistically support decision-making
• what is needed to ensure trust, transparency, and usability

This is not a generic consultation.

The results will directly shape the development of AI-supported tools, including the EU-ALMPO Wizard, designed to support policy design and implementation in real contexts.

Your perspective is essential to ensure that these tools reflect institutional realities, not assumptions.

📢 EU-ALMPO Survey: Shaping the Future of AI in Labour Market Policy

Labour market policies are under increasing pressure to address persistent skills mismatches more effectively.

The EU-ALMPO project works to strengthen policy effectiveness by developing an evidence-based analytical framework and translating it into practical tools and recommendations. A key focus is how advanced data analytics and AI-supported systems can support policy design, implementation, and evaluation across different institutional contexts.

As part of this work, we invite policymakers, Public Employment Services, and labour market practitioners to contribute to a new survey.

The survey explores:

• how ALMPs are initiated, adapted, and managed in practice
• how data supports decision-making
• where AI can add value across the policy lifecycle
• what is needed to ensure trust, transparency, and responsible use

Your input will directly inform the development of AI-supported tools within EU-ALMPO.

EU-ALMPO | Patras Meetings & 1st Review

Three intensive days in Patras (17–19 March)

A key milestone for EU ALMPO

From reviewing progress
→ to aligning strategy
→ to moving into implementation

As Scientific Coordinator, ACRONYM ensures one thing:
👉 innovation with scientific validity

Our focus:
🔹 coherence across WPs
🔹 integration of social sciences + AI
🔹 reliable policy-support tools

EU-ALMPO is not just building tools.
We are building a policy intelligence infrastructure
✔ evidence → structured
✔ knowledge → AI-ready
✔ tools → validated

Because AI in policy is not neutral. It must be:
✔ explainable
✔ trustworthy
✔ grounded in evidence

The Review Meeting reinforced that the project is on track to deliver trustworthy, policy-relevant AI solutions for ALMP design

Next step:
👉 real-world testing
👉 validation
👉 policy uptake

🌍 MICROIDEA Study Visit to Sri Lanka – Strengthening Global Perspectives

was pleased to participate (26-29/01/2026) to the study visit to Sri Lanka, within the framework of the Microidea Microidea Project, as part of the project’s outreach to a third country.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and perspectives with Sri Lankan governmental bodies and training organisations, presenting the MICROIDEA approach and exploring how its core elements—micro-credentials, skills recognition, and labour-market alignment—can be adapted beyond the European context.

🎯 Through targeted meetings and discussions, we are examining common challenges related to skills development, employability, and vocational training, identifying potential areas for future cooperation and mutual learning.

🤝 The study visit reaffirmed that workforce upskilling, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth are shared global priorities, and that meaningful solutions emerge through international dialogue and collaboration.

✨ MICROIDEA continues to demonstrate its added value not only as a European initiative, but as a transferable and adaptable model capable of building bridges between regions, systems, and people.

Moving forward—together. 🚀
