Recovery from DIC has been all about mental strength for me. Patience has never been my thing, but I’ve had no choice but to just sit, wait, and hope. I’m so, so grateful for all the doctors who saved my life—there were a lot of them, and they all took such good care of me.
But once I left the hospital, it was about finding balance. Resting, healing, and figuring out how to adapt to every little thing. Losing my sight touches every single part of my life. I remember not even being able to put toothpaste on my toothbrush. The white on white just blurred together, and I couldn’t see it. I had to practice the tiniest things, things I’d never thought twice about before. I had to fight to hold onto my confidence, let myself cry, and just sit there, waiting with nothing but time. The list of things I couldn’t do was endless—even eating was tough because I couldn’t see my food.
It's been hard. It's been frustrating. But staying grateful kept me going. It kept the joy alive in me, and honestly, that’s what’s helped me heal. And today, I’m doing better. I’m getting there.
