It is with deep sadness that we at Jettoo’s Lumber Yard and Sawmill extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr. James Singh.
Mr. Singh was more than just a valued member of our community. His presence and contributions will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

It is with heartfelt sadness that the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guyana Forestry Commission, announce the passing of a stalwart in the forestry sector and former Commissioner of Forests, Mr. James Singh, who dedicated more than 20 years of service to the sector.
Mr. Singh's experience in the forestry sector has contributed significantly to environmental conservation. He has advocated and protected the ecosystem that is Guyana's forest, through study, research and fieldwork in an effort to make informed decisions for conservation strategies.
He served as the Chief Negotiator for the EU FLEGT VPA and was one of the key team members on the National Implementation Working Group and Government Coordination Body. His work also lead to the implementation of reduced impact logging techniques and the establishment of the Log Tracking System to the promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
Under Mr. Singh's guidance, our forests have thrived, nurtured by policies and initiatives that prioritize conservation, restoration, and community engagement. Through innovative approaches and collaborative partnerships, he has transformed our forest management practices, ensuring that our natural heritage is preserved for future generations.
Mr. Singh has been an inspiration and advocacy for global forest conservation, serving beyond our borders with participation in international fora and the sharing of expertise and best practices. He has played a pivotal role in advancing the cause of forest preservation on the global stage.
Mr. Singh's vision and leadership has had a transformative impact on our forests and the people who depend on them. His legacy will continue to live through his work and sterling years of dedicated service to our country.
The Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, management and staff of the Ministry and its agencies, offer its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. James Singh. May his soul rest in peace.
