Aim of the NDC
The National Dance Championships aims to provide a platform for dancers to share, learn, grow and compete whilst creating an awareness of the art form and the endless opportunities which exist through its practice .A competition which will encourage every dance style practiced in Guyana to present their best pieces on one stage for a year long journey being recognized as the best
in their field . Appeal
Dance is an ever evolving art and more so we in Guyana are predominantly young groups who are leaning towards unique urban dance styles. Though there are institutions promoting dance, the art form is not as respected as we the dancers would like it to be. The National Dance championships (NDC) will aim towards creating a wider awareness of dance and its endless benefits here in Guyana and worldwide. Many experienced dancers have over the last few years lost interest in practicing and perusing a career in dance in Guyana because of ;
1. The lack of opportunities for dancers in Guyana
2. The little respect dancers receive here in Guyana
3. The several stereotypes attached to dancers and the practice especially by men.
4. Exploitation of dancers by cooperate Guyana and the entertainment industry. We plan to address these concerns and difficulties these dancers may face by strengthening the industry through stimulating their competitive edges, thus instigating a higher quality and quantity of dancers.
