Robren's Answer: As a Philokalist (a lover of beauty), my vote goes to Anne Kedi mainly because of her advocacy for cleaning the oceans. As for the most beautiful face, I vote for Seren Ay. For Miss Congeniality, I vote for Asena İlik.

Each has a creator or team of creators, who use programmes like Open AI’s DALL·E 3, Midjourney or Stable Diffusion to generate images of the women from text prompts.

These 10 contestants have been selected from a pool of more than 1,500 entrants to make the final of “Miss AI,” scheduled to be held at the end of June and broadcast online by its organizers “The World AI Creator Awards.”

It’s taken 50 years for pageants to get where they are today, with AI it can be done on fast forward.

AI and robotics have long been used, often by men, to create the image of a “perfect woman,” said McInerney, referencing the Stepford Wives trope and the 2014 movie “Ex Machina.”

Many of these AI avatars were originally created as marketing tools, to act in the same way as a human social media influencer might. Seren Ay was created to promote an online jewellery store when its founders found it difficult to work with human influencers, they said. Aitana López, can earn up to €30,000 (around $32,000) a month from sponsored posts.

Such AI influencers have already proved their worth in recent years — one named Lil Miquela has amassed millions of Instagram followers and worked with brands like Calvin Klein and Prada. Unlike their human counterparts, they appear flawless, ageless and free of scandal. They don’t need to be paid and they can be directly owned by a marketing agency or by the company whose products they are promoting.

“Just as we become attached to literary or movie characters, some people are attached to Anne,” he said. “She responds affectionately and sometimes humorously when someone asks how she is doing.”

Man vs. Machine: AI is fast replacing human tasks.

“You can’t be running an innovative company without seriously considering these technologies. You run the risk of being left behind,” Duke finance professor John Graham.

Nearly half (46%) of large US firms plan to use AI within the next year to automate tasks previously done by employees. Those tasks include everything from paying suppliers and doing invoices to financial reporting.

The CFO Survey found that companies say they are using automation to increase product quality (58% of firms); increase output (49%), reduce labor costs (47%) and substitute for workers (33%).

Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, stressed that for a number of years it will be a co-pilot, not a pilot.

“It’s job transformation. Human jobs will be replaced — but will be replaced by other humans using AI."

Nvidia became the world’s most valuable company after its share price climbed to an all-time high on Tuesday.

The stock ended the trading day at nearly $136, up 3.5%, making it more valuable than Microsoft. It overtook Apple earlier this month.

Nvidia makes computer chips needed for artificial intelligence (AI) software, and demand for its products has boosted its sales and profits over the last few years.

Tuesday’s share price rally means the market now values the company at $3.34tn (£2.63tn), with the price having nearly doubled since the start of this year.

Eight years ago, the stock was worth less than 1% of its current price.

Competition among AI developers is fierce. Microsoft, Google-owner Alphabet, Meta and Apple are just some of the tech heavyweights battling to create a world-beating product.

This competition benefits Nvidia, which dominates the vast majority of the AI chip market.

However, a minority are more cautious.

In February, Barclays credit analyst Sandeep Gupta argued that Nvidia’s large market share would be hard to maintain given the increasing number of rivals and questioned how Nvidia’s customers would monetise AI software.

The Future is Here: A Sneak Peek at Apple's Hottest AI Developments

At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, the company unveiled the first batch of tools powered by “Apple Intelligence,” from personalized Genmoji – Apple’s AI-generated emoji – to a significantly smarter Siri, which can answer questions about your schedule, what’s in your email and what time your loved one’s flight is landing.

Apple emphasized privacy and security during its presentation, noting most AI functions will be done on the phone, keeping inputs away from a far-off server cloud.

A big push into AI could spur growth for iPhone sales and services for years to come, as users are now waiting longer to upgrade their devices and an uncertain economic environment weighs on consumers, particularly in China. The company also faces regulatory scrutiny in Washington and was passed this week by chip maker Nvidia as the second-largest public company in the US.

Apple CEO Tim Cook added: “Most importantly, it has to understand you and be grounded in your personal context, like your routine, your relationships, your communications, and more. And, of course, it has to be built with privacy, from the ground up.”

The timing is also noteworthy: Apple is not always first to adopt and integrate emerging technologies — it typically researches, develops and aims to perfect new tech for years before including it in new products — but the speed at which the world is adopting generative AI is perhaps expediting the company’s need to have a smartphone with the most cutting-edge technology.

Here’s a closer look at what Apple announced at its big event:

▪ AI, AI and more AI
Apple is embracing generative AI, through Siri, the company’s virtual assistant, essentially turning it into an iPhone chatbot.

This could enable Siri to perform specific tasks such as recalling a picture taken years ago on the device or answering detailed questions about the weather, the news or trivia. It can also perform more advanced tasks, such as answering when a user’s mom’s plane is landing, by analyzing information previously sent in an email. Over time, it could learn the user’s preferences and respond according.

Users will also be able to create personalized photos, such as taking a picture of your mom and making it into a stylized, cartoon-y version, adding a superhero cape.

If a meeting is being rescheduled, Apple Intelligence can process relevant personal data and see the email your kid sent days before about a recital, alerting users if there may be a conflict.

▪ Beyond AI
Apple kicked off its iOS 18 portion of the event by highlighting new controls and personalization coming to iOS 18, including a revamped look for all icons when it goes into Dark Mode.

Text messages are getting a bump, too. The company said it will soon let people send texts via satellite, even if they don’t have a cell or WiFi connection. Apple is also adding what it called one of the most requested features in iMessage: the ability to schedule messages

iPhone users will now be able to record and create transcripts of calls right from the phone app. All parties to the call will be notified when it is being recorded.

▪ Other product updates

The company also made software updates to other products, including the Mac, AirPods and Apple Watch.

Apple showed off its latest MacOS software called Sequoia, with a handful of new productivity features. Phone mirroring, for example, will bring iPhone alerts directly to the laptop that show up directly next to Mac notifications.

▪ Vision Pro update
During its most recent earnings call, Cook said more than half of the Fortune 100 companies have already bought an Apple Vision Pro. “[We] are exploring innovative ways to use it to do things that weren’t possible before,” he added.

Vision OS 2 promises to offer more rich experiences for users, such as a wider display for work stations, new hand gestures that let you check battery life or open up the home screen, and get deeper inside the photos in your library, thanks to advanced machine learning that provides more natural depth.

AI is The Reason for the Surge in Market Value of Nvidia and Microsoft and soon Apple - The World's Top 3 Most Valuable Public Listed Companies.

Nvidia's market value has surged past $3tn (£2.3tn), lifting the chipmaker ahead of Apple to become the second most valuable publicly listed company in the world.

It extended a breathtakingly rapid climb that started last year, powered by bets that the firm is positioned to be a major winner from a wave of investment in artificial intelligence (AI).

Its market value now sits just behind Microsoft, another key player in the industry thanks to its investments in ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.

Founded in 1993, Nvidia was originally known for making the type of computer chips that process graphics, particularly for computer games.

Long before the AI revolution, it started adding features to its chips that it says help machine learning - all of which has helped it increase its market share.

It is now seen as a key company to watch to see how fast AI-powered tech is spreading across the business world, a shift boss Jensen Huang has declared the dawn of the "next industrial revolution".

Optimism about AI is one of the forces behind a broader market rally over the last year, which pushed the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq in the United States to new records on Wednesday.

Apple had appeared to be losing out earlier this year as sales growth stalled.

But in recent weeks, its shares have been buoyed by anticipation over how it plans to incorporate AI into its own strategy.

Janet Yellen Sounds Alarm on ‘Significant Risks’ of AI in Finance.

On the opportunity side, Yellen will note how AI has already been used by investors to support forecasting and portfolio management and by banks to fight fraud and support customer service.

The problem is that many AI models operate as a “black box,” meaning their inner workings are impenetrable to outsiders.

In other words, if many investors are all relying on tools that produce the same outcome, it could cause crowded market positions that exacerbate market moves, both to the upside or downside.

Another concern: AI models can at times churn out biased results. And that could be a major problem in the real world, especially when it comes to making financial decisions like who gets a loan.

One major challenge facing AI that Yellen does not address in her speech excerpts: so-called hallucinations. AI models have a history of making stuff up, often in a convincing way.

Such hallucinations have previously gotten lawyers in trouble when they cited case law that did not exist.

“We’ve engaged with the public and private sectors on using AI to detect some of the greatest risks we face, from money laundering, to terrorist financing, to sanctions evasion,” Yellen plans to say.
