Security industry is still struggling to prove itself.

This is because of fragmentation into skill silos.

There are people who sell security products. There are those who protect only information. There are those who only design tech solutions. There are those who do threat research and analysis. There are those who provide close protection for VIPs and executives. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Yet, there are very few people who have strong competence in all (or most) of the security silos. Among these people, there is a tiny minority of those who can competently develop strategies, plans, and deliver protection for any asset.
