1. Handgrip Challenge: Come try our handgrip dynamometer and see how your grip strength stacks up against others. Simple, fun, and surprisingly addictive!

This Sustainable Art Jamming Workshop with Hippiefart provides an open session of creation among individuals who want to create art through multiple mediums and find their own path in artistic expression or reach a sense of enjoyment through the process of artmaking. This workshop aims to showcase a sustainable approach to creating art. In providing materials that are sustainably sourced, we can educate creatives on the importance of environmental consciousness, as well as serve a platform that encourages experimentality in their creative endeavors. Join us to learn, make, and create with sustainability in mind!

Hippiefart (Ashley) is a Filipino Chinese self-taught artist based in Hong Kong. Her artworks explore themes of romance, solitude,heartbreak, family, and nostalgia in a modern city. Hippiefart’s art practice is a process of experimentation through the themes that she explores, and the materials that she uses. As an artist that values sustainability in her art practice, she aims to find a solution in the toxic cycle of mass consumption by creating an inclusive space for creatives to seek artistic expression using recycled and reused materials.

Meet the HHong Kong New Music Ensemble 香港創樂團🎼

Ben Pelletier | Trombone

Ben Pelletier is an accomplished trombonist whose career spans classical and commercial music, with degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Rice University. Currently based in Hong Kong, he performs with the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and City Chamber Orchestra while also having toured and recorded with global artists like the Temptations and Jessie J. An active educator and media personality, he teaches at local universities and hosts RTHK’s arts and culture programme The Works.

Karina Yau | Percussion

Karina Yau Mei Ying is a percussionist with the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and an NYU Master of Music graduate who has performed extensively on global stages. As the Director of Initial-P Percussion Studio and Chairperson of Rhythmaker, she is dedicated to promoting local composers and inspiring students through chamber music and educational outreach.

Meet the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble 香港創樂團! 🎼

William Lane | Viola

William Lane is an Australian musician, curator, and arts administrator focused on Asia; in 2008, he founded the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and continues to serve as CEO and violist. His work spans curating major festivals and arts projects across the region, alongside performing, teaching, and advising. Before settling in Hong Kong, he performed with Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Resonanz in Germany and with professional orchestras in Australia, including two years as a full-time member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic.

Trained at the University of Tasmania, Accademia Stauffer (Italy), and Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie (Germany), he is also pursuing an MBA at the University of Adelaide (Australia).

Chor Kai-Hei | Cello

Chor Kai Hei is a leading Hong Kong cellist and HKNME member who has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra and curated global diplomatic events. An award-winning graduate of the Royal College of Music and a university educator, he serves as the youngest expert advisor to the LCSD Music Office. Outside of his multi-disciplinary work in theatre and film, Kai Hei is a food and history enthusiast and a devoted Liverpool FC fan.

Meet the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble 香港創樂團 🎼

Austin Leung | Conductor

Leung is the first Hong Kong composer to win the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize since 1948, and his achievement was named one of RTHK Radio 4’s “Top Ten Music News Items of 2017.” His award-winning work has been performed by leading international ensembles, including the Philharmonia Orchestra. He is also the founder of Our Music Wonderland, a music education organization for early childhood.

Marco Leung | Flute

Chor Kai Hei is one of Hong Kong’s most active cellists, with training from the Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has performed and collaborated with renowned orchestras and artists, and has been a member of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble since 2019. He is also deeply committed to education and cultural events, teaching in universities and schools, and currently serves on the LCSD Music Office Expert Advisors board.
