Research projects are related to the comparison of the GAIA Survey to the Galaxia Model of the Galaxy looking for systematic discrepancies and new Stellar Streams (disrupted galaxies which got eaten by the Milky Way). Possible small research projects for High School or Undergraduate University Students include:
* Develop a new transformation from the Johnson-Cousins Photometric System to the GAIA G color
* Identify known and new members of already known Stellar Streams in the GAIA data
* Investigate the selection effects in the GAIA Survey

NOW THAT'S PROBLEM SOLVING IN ACTION - just fixed all my flimsy micro-USB cables which would only charge my phone in a certain position. All you need is a needle! On the flat side of the plug there are 2 pins which get pushed in after a while. There's a tiny little hole at the top where you can push in a needle and bend these 2 pins back up - DONE, PROBLEM SOLVED!
Takes less than a minute per cable...
