I would begin 2026 by sharing three good news with all my partners, customers and friends.
๐บ๐ฒ The White House will soon remove the RECIPROCAL TARIFFS on GUATEMALA ๐ฌ๐น and EL SALVADOR ๐ณ๐ฎ making them the first two countries in the world with ZERO TARIFFS. One of my clients who has invested in a textiles manufacturing facility in Africa since 2010 has expressed interest to diversify and explore investing in Americas as early as March 2026. In line with DR - CAFTA, we see this move as an opportunity of collaboration for all who manufacture and sell cotton and polyester yarn in Americas. I can name Parkdale Mills, Inc. , Unifi Manufacturing, Inc. (makers of REPREVEยฎ ) , GRUPO IMPERIAL TEXTIL ,etc.
The OTEXA or the Office of Textiles and Apparel , Department of Trade ๐บ๐ฒ has published monthly data on the import figures of numerous garment categories of all countries. We notice that many figures of Pakistan are good and healthy. With a good base of cotton farming, we see Pakistan to be one of the top 10 export countries to USA with double digit growth. PERM will be travelling to Pakistan exploring opportunities for trade and investment as early as January / February 2026.
The global zipper market is about the size of US$5 billion. Right now , the leader is from Japan. The #1 non-Japanese leader has just signed off a US$35 million investment in Vietnam in December 2025. PERM is happy to explore trade and investment opportunities for the same company in Americas and Africa.
