From Farm to Fork: Empowering Mountain Communities in Morocco! 🇲🇦

We are proud to share the success of the MountainHER pop-up restaurant event held on December 10–11, 2025. This initiative highlights women’s associations as leaders in agroecological transformation to support mountain farming communities.

✨ Event Highlights:

Day 1: Project partners visited the Al Amal Tigrigra Cooperative to learn about their traditional activities and product range. 👩‍🌾

Live Cooking: Attendees enjoyed live sessions featuring barley, wheat, and five-cereal couscous, plus the traditional Berkoukech milk recipe. 🥣

Day 2: The project’s closing ceremony brought together international and local institutions to present key results. 🤝

Authentic Flavors: All dishes featured agroecological grains paired with local Azrou lamb and regional vegetables. 🥗

Special thanks to Dr. Ibtissam Guirrou and Ms. Aziza (President of the cooperative) for showcasing the power of traditional food systems. 🌟

Together, we are generating sustainable income through the "from farm to fork" concept. 🚜🍴

📢 Open Fields in Italy at the Rigoso in FestiValle Fair!

On Saturday, July 26th, we took part in the Rigoso in FestiValle local fair in Italy, with our own booth and a workshop titled:
“Il Progetto PRIMA MountainHER e l’Agroecologia nei territory montani”.

During the workshop we:

presented the project, its development, and results (especially the business model),

discussed agroecology and its application in mountain areas (Giuseppe Fattori and Cristina Piazza),

introduced the training on circular economy and the pilot compost station video in Rigoso (Jad Novi).

Visitors showed great interest and requested the workshop materials. We also distributed several copies of the project brochure with the cookbook for Italy.

We chose to deepen the topic of agroecology because, during the 2nd wave WP6 interviews, participants expressed strong interest and a need for more information.

🌱 Fertilizing our fields with organic nutrients – supporting sustainable growth! 🌱

At the MountainHER project fields in Croatia, we carried out an important step in crop care – fertilization with organic manure. This process provides plants with essential nutrients for healthy growth and high-quality yields, while preserving soil fertility and maintaining the natural balance of the ecosystem.

By using only organic fertilizers, we continue to build sustainable farming that respects both nature and the traditions of our region.

👩‍🌾 MountainHER farmers in action! 👩‍🌾

In our Croatian fields, the MountainHER farmers have recently been evaluating each variety of wheat and barley we planted. They observed growth, resistance to weather conditions, and yield potential – all to understand which varieties perform best.

These activities not only help us achieve better results but also pass down knowledge among generations of women who preserve the farming tradition. 🌱

🌾 Rain nourishes our fields – harvest is starting soon! 🌾

Here in Croatia, we’re currently experiencing a rainy period – just what our wheat and barley crops need to finish ripening. The MountainHER project fields are looking healthy and promising, and we’re expecting an excellent harvest as soon as the weather allows us to begin.

Thank you to everyone following our work and supporting our goal of preserving traditional farming through sustainable practices. We’ll soon be sharing the first moments of this year’s harvest with you! 🌱

In the heart of Gorski Kotar, at a unique spot that perfectly blends natural beauty with the spirit of the mountains, more than 800 visitors gathered! 🎉 Among them were 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 – 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗸𝗶 𝗞𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. 💚

𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 – because local means love, sustainability, and authenticity! 🌾🥰

🍺 A highlight of the day was the debut of Divokoza beer, brewed with malt made from locally grown barley – a perfect 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗸𝗼𝘇𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗿 of Gorski Kotar soil and craftsmanship in every drop! 🍻

🎶 The event was further enriched by a local food and crafts market, 🎨 live music lifting the atmosphere 🎸 and a guided walk through the stunning nature reserve. 🚶‍♀️🌿

📺🎙️ We are especially proud that our event was covered by national television as well as local radio, bringing the story of the MountainHER project to a wider audience and highlighting the importance of the local community and sustainability.

🌄 Among the guests were our dear friends from Hiking Croatia – well-known influencers who supported the event with their presence and shared this magical story with their large community of nature and mountain lovers. 📸⛰️

🌟 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 – 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! A movement empowering women, promoting local production, reconnecting us with nature, and reminding us of the strength of a community that breathes as one. 💪🌲

Thank you to everyone who came, tasted, sang, talked, and celebrated this day with us! Zeleni vir once again reminded us that the most beautiful things happen when nature, people, and ideas come together. 💚

From the wild, green heart of Gorski kotar comes Divokoza – a craft beer made from locally grown barley, brought to life by strong women and a vibrant local community. This beer tells a story of place, people, and the nature that surrounds us.

Created by the inspiring women's cooperative Brlog, Divokoza was brewed as part of the MountainHER project and with the support of Snaga Gorja Association – initiatives that empower women shaping the sustainable future of mountain regions.

Divokoza is more than just beer – it’s a symbol of:
✅ local strength and tradition
✅ women’s solidarity
✅ love for Gorski kotar
