𝟕 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. 𝟓𝟏 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. 𝟒𝟖𝟎𝟎+ 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.

Today, on 30th September, it's exactly 7 years since I officially registered my consulting business. 🔥 For the first 6 months, I was building it part-time alongside my corporate job (in the nights and weekends), but this date still feels like an important milestone.

So I asked Claude to analyse my table tracking my clients and working hours.

𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝟒𝟖𝟔𝟔 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤

▪️ 2038 client contact hours (consultations, project meetings etc.)

▪️ 2828 hours of background work (preparation, interim project management, follow-ups etc.)

These numbers don't include workshops or other group formats, nor the work related to my own business and brand building.

It's little or much, relative. But for me it's more than enough.

💡 Around 42% happened directly with clients. The other 58% happened behind the scenes. I think this says something important about consulting:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. Behind those conversations and decisions there is a big amount of thinking, preparation and work from my side.

Of course, 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. However, I think 2000+ hours of active listening, asking questions, challenging ideas, solving problems and going through different business situations shape the way you think and work.

💡 These numbers were a good reminder for me as well:

𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐩. It accumulates project by project, conversation by conversation, hour by hour.

7 years later, I'm still learning, still refining the way I work and still building. And now another business milestone ahead of me and PwG Communication. 🔥 But now I stopped for a moment to look at the distance already covered. 🙂

❓ What is behind the scenes in your case? What is behind your 'contact' or 'background' numbers? I'm curious about your experience and perspectives.

p.s.: 📸 This photo was taken at my first business portrait photo shooting. I’ve learnt a lot since then, but my determination was strong in that time, too. :)

I turned 36 at the end of August. (I was thinking about whether to state my age so precisely, but I would be too naive to think that anyone sees me much younger. 🙂) However, according to my Garmin watch I’m still only 29. That’s my fitness age.

It felt good to see this number. Not only because it was flattering, but also because 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞:

I could be moving faster in business, I could be further along.. (Probably I'm not the only entrepreneur with such a kind of thoughts.) But whenever I think this, I counter my own argument by reminding myself that life is about so much more than work and business – even though I love what I do.

I also invest a lot of time and energy in other important areas of my life: my physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. And in my relationships. And in my social life. And I could go on.

It's a constant balancing act with no balance at the end, because there are periods when one area or another gets more attention. But I'm committed to this: 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. Business and growth NOT at all costs. Quite the opposite.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧 – 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. And as one of my favourite quote says: “𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.”

So, on this year's birthday I came to the conclusion again that I might be slower than I expect, but 𝐢𝐟, 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐧, 𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. And that is what matters most.

Of course, a fitness age of 29 doesn’t tell the whole story, but it was a reassuring sign that hopefully I do something right in this area.
To celebrate, few weeks ago I ran 29 kilometres – it was my Garmin birthday run. This weekend, I’ll run 36 kilometres in honour of my actual age. So, both of my ages will get their own celebratory run. 🏃‍♀️🎂

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of in the background.

A small glimpse of what I've done as part of a big development process:

(amongst others) I also integrated my into a custom "senior collaboration protocol" skill in .

Because 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 - 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫.

So what do my POWER values mean for an AI colleague in practice?

▪️ 𝐏ersistence - don’t stop at the first obstacle, look for the missing information, another route or a workable next step
▪️𝐎wnership - name mistakes, correct them and move forward, no excuses, no hiding behind explanations
▪️ 𝐕alue-orientation - focus on what is genuinely useful to me, not on what merely looks polished
▪️ 𝐕ibrance - bring energy and a point of view, don’t default to bland, neutral machine language
▪️ 𝐄mpowerment - give me options, trade-offs and reasoning so I can make the decision, don’t make it for me
▪️ 𝐑eliability - separate facts from assumptions, flag uncertainty early, and make sure what you say actually holds up

💡 This is important part of both and AI-supported : not only teaching AI what to do, but also customize how to work with you and your brand.

And 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈-𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬.

❓ Have you already translated your values into the language of AI?
I'm interested in your experiences.

P.S.: I think, this photo is a good illustration after all: close-up, filter-free and very much me. Just like the AI skill behind the scenes - no generic persona, but my values, standards and way of working translated into how it collaborates with me. 🙂

The smallest purchase gave me the best recently ...

This is the 3rd and finally a in my brand experience post series. 🙂

From time to time I order lunch from a meal-delivery company - a convenient service that offers good value for money. Every weekend they ask customers to rate each delivered meal of the week. I usually give stars but don't write anything because overall I'm happy with the service.

However, 2 weeks ago one of my meals seemed undercooked. So this time, I added a few words to my rating and explained what my problem was. 🔻

To be honest, I didn't expect anything to happen ... But shortly afterwards, I received an email thanking me for the feedback. 📩 They wrote that matters to them and they would look into what might have happened - incl. whether the cooking process or cooking time needed to be reviewed. 🔺

▪️ Was the email probably automated? Most likely.
▪️Did that matter to me? Not really.

Because they acknowledged my feedback and showed me that something would happen with it.

And that's what made this experience so different from the previous stories: the company where I made the lowest-value purchase provided the best response to my problem.

And that's why I wanted to share these 3 different everyday examples.

💡Because a is much more than online communication, campaigns and posts. Your processes, customer service, follow-up and the way you react when something goes wrong are all part of the brand.

Ultimately, the whole should deliver the experience your brand promises - regardless of your size, price point or budget.

p.s.: The photo is just a thumb-stopping illustration from my recent holiday. My black calamari risotto had nothing to do with the story above - except that it was definitely well-cooked. 🙂

Terms and conditions might protect a business from liability, but they cannot protect a brand from disappointment ...

Recently, we went to an outdoor concert in Buda Castle (4 women from my family), so I pre-booked a taxi about half a day in advance. 🚕 The point was obvious: I wanted certainty that we would have a car and arrive on time.

About 30 minutes before the scheduled pickup, I still hadn't received any information about the car, so I called . (Because I had had a negative experience with them beforehand, so I wanted to make sure, they would send the taxi.)

✔️They confirmed that they could see the booking, asked again about the details, and told me they were looking for a car and that I would receive the information shortly.

❌ Then, 3 minutes (!) before the scheduled pickup time, I received a notification saying that no car would be coming because none was available.

I was sooo frustrated. I called again the customer service.
❌ No real apology.
❌ No attempt to help us find a solution.
❌ No compensation.
❌ No visible ownership of the situation.

The explanation was short: their terms and conditions do NOT guarantee that a pre-booked taxi will actually arrive.

What❓ There is a service which promises and should provide this pre-ordering benefit and they can say legally that it is not guaranteed?

It doesn't make sense - at least from perspective.

We had trusted the service enough to organize our evening around that booking. This was broken - for the 2nd time (!) - and this time it put us in a very uncertain situation. So I immediately removed the company's app from my phone, I called another one, and I will never call this one again, and probably neither will my 3 other family members.

💡 A mistake doesn't necessarily damage a . But the way you handle a mistake or a problem says much more about your brand than the way you operate when everything goes according to plan.

p.s.1: This is the 2nd story in my post series, one more (finally a positive) example coming 🔜 To exemplify that brand building is much more than online comms and posts. It should cover the whole .

p.s.2: We finally made it to the concert, which was a fantastic experience and made up for everything that had happened before. And on the way home, a reliable taxi company came to pick us up.

How can one human interaction weaken a carefully built premium ?

Recently, I visited the boutique of a well-known premium coffee brand in Budapest to buy some coffee capsules. ☕️

💬 I asked a few very ordinary customer questions: What does this one taste like? How would you recommend drinking it? What promotions are currently available?

🔴 The salesperson answered, but throughout the whole conversation he seemed visibly bored and uninterested. (And his colleague didn't come to us to replace him.)

💬Then I asked whether I could perhaps taste one of the coffees.

🔴 Again, the answer was yes, but delivered in a way that made me feel as if I was creating extra work simply by asking...

And this is where my perspective switched on.

✨ This is a premium brand. It invests heavily in premium locations, celebrity ambassadors and a whole coffee experience. The boutique itself invites you to come in, discover, taste and experience the brand.

❌ But ultimately, the person representing the brand at that particular touchpoint became the brand for me in that moment.

💡 That is why cannot stop at advertising, visual identity or online communication.

Your brand promise has to represen along the customer journey.
▪️ A beautiful campaign can create expectations
▪️ A premium environment can reinforce them
▪️ But one human interaction can either validate the whole promise, or or create dissonance within minutes

Later I received the brand's survey and shared my feedback ... No response followed ... Which brings me to another important part of brand experience: what happens after something goes wrong ...

This was my first visit to this brand's store, and my first personal offline impression ... Well, I'm not keen on going back...

And this is the 1st story in my brand experience post series, two more (both negative and positive) examples coming 🔜 To exemplify that brand building is much more than online comms and posts. It should cover the whole .

What are the key cards in your brand’s deck - and do you know when to play each one? 🃏

Last week, I joined a business breakfast where I had 30 seconds to introduce myself.

30 seconds is

✅ enough to grab attention, briefly explain who you help, how you help them, and what makes you different,

❎ but not enough to communicate everything that might make your brand relevant and convincing to a particular person or target group.

And you don’t need to.

💡I often think about as cards in a brand’s deck. You don’t have to put every card on the table at once. You need to know which cards you have - and which one is worth playing in a particular situation.

Defining your key messages is an important step, as well as understanding when, where and for whom each of them becomes relevant.

This applies both to a and a .

An event introduction, a sales meeting, a LinkedIn post, a newsletter or a one-to-one conversation might require different messages from the same brand.

And your key cards are not necessarily product or service features.

▪️ Your way of thinking
▪️ Your approach
▪️ Your methodology
▪️ Your professional background
▪️ Your complementary experience
▪️ etc

Messaging points that can reinforce your positioning in the right situation, with the right audience.

Even seemingly small details that can become exactly the reason why someone pays attention, relates to you, remembers you or starts trusting you.

Some examples of messaging cards I play in the right situation: strong business approach in brand building, international corporate background, public speaking experience in Toastmasters, coaching as a complementary tool to consulting, ultra-running mindset ...

What I recommend:

1️⃣ collect your strengths
2️⃣ categorize them: mindset, methods, experience, product/service features etc.
3️⃣ labels them as points of parity, points of difference, credibility points

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞?

On Wednesday I launched a new video series on Instagram called "Brand Builder's Diary."

Over the coming weeks in August, I'll be sharing one short video every day.
📱 No editing.
🎙️ No post-production.
💬 No subtitles.

Just me, my thoughts, and whatever I'm currently experiencing, learning, or working on. I had been planning this challenge for a while, and now .

❌ Ironically, recording the very first episode didn't go quite as planned. I spent almost an hour trying to record a one-minute video.
Not because I didn't know what I wanted to say, but because I was trying to squeeze something into one minute that, in my opinion, simply needed more context.

By the end, I was genuinely frustrated.

💡Then I had a realization: I had fallen into exactly the same trap I so often help my clients avoid. When it comes to brand building, I always start from strengths rather than weaknesses.

☑️ Whether I'm working on a or a , we first identify what already works well. What strengths, skills, resources and competencies are already there. Those become the foundation, and only then we gradually expanding the comfort zone and start developing the areas that need improvement.

🆚Now, however, I tried to do the opposite. Instead of building on what naturally fits me, I tried to force myself into a format that simply isn't my strength (yet).

So I made a decision.
▪️ The videos will stay around 2–3 minutes for now.
▪️ Maybe they'll become shorter over time. Maybe they won't.
▪️ But I'd much rather create content that delivers real value than fit into a self-imposed one-minute limit.

❓ Where could you apply this comfort zone leaving approach in your brand building?

A legtöbb márkánál nem a logó vagy az arculat hiányzik. Hanem valami sokkal fontosabb.

Tavaly 263 magyar vállalkozás válaszait elemeztem (egyszemélyestől a csapatokkal rendelkezőkig):

✅ Közel 73%-uknak volt már tudatos márkaneve.
❌De mindössze 13%-uknak volt írásos kommunikációs stratégiája.
