Half a Century: Already OR Have Just
I have just enjoyed a wonderful Saturday evening celebrating a friend's 50th birthday. Whilst enjoying the party very much, I learned so much more than just partying.
EMBRACING AUTHENTICITY
The birthday celebration was titled: Jimbaran Village Festival. From the entrance gate to the core arena of the event, the experience was profoundly authentic. It looked like, sounded like, felt like, tasted like Bali. An entire "truly Bali" experience.
I was super happy because I know this is how my friend would love for his 50th birthday. This shows who he is, his birthrights, what he wants, his passion and calling and hobby, and purpose. This party is authentically him. The fact that this concept is a surprise done by his wife and team makes it even more profound: they know him well, as he has been authentic about who he is.
AGING MEANINGFULLY
Reflecting on this celebration of life: 50 years. ALREADY half a century. A milestone most culture deemed significant, as this is supposedly the age where people tend to start feeling that they are OLD, need to RETIRE, STEP DOWN from responsibilities, the era of being WEAK and SICKLY, simply because one has reached that AGE.
But then 50 is also STILL YOUNG, you HAVE JUST reached half a century. It is the BEGINNING of a NEW ERA. A time to utilize the many EXPERIENCES, put them to good use, as now you got the hang of it. CLARITY, contentment, lessons learned, systems, and above all, WISDOM, are gained by this stAGE.

I came back home wanting to write and share this before I rest for the night, for me to have a reminder, and post it here, for you who might benefit from this thought.
