Often when coaching clients first come to me, they’re on the verge of giving up their dream. They love the work but it’s not supporting them.

This is never how it should be. So when that turns around and they experience how it’s supposed to feel their shoulders soften, their voice lightens and their face brightens. And that is pure magic.

Start your journey with getting the support you need with my next free masterclass - Making Birthwork Work.

What if burnout wasn’t a productivity problem—it was a cycle problem?

I sat down with Tayba Azim () to talk about scheduling your business around your menstrual cycle instead of pretending you operate the same way every single week.

We cover Mizan therapy, the four inner seasons of your cycle, and how to actually chart your patterns so you can work with your body instead of against it.

Spoiler: This changes everything about how you approach your workload, your capacity, and what “productivity” actually means.

If you’re a doula (birth or postpartum) and you’re getting some bookings but not as many as you’d like have you looked at your customer journey and experience? It’s not just about great clinical care there’s a lot more that is more likely to have a past client tell a friend about you. Would you tell your friend about you?

Are you worried about where your next doula or lactation client is going to come from?

You love the work. You’re good at what you do. You know you are. You’re showing up, putting in the effort and trying to get your name out there.

But your income still feels unpredictable.

One week maybe you’re busy and wondering how you’ll fit everyone in.

The next, you’re checking your diary, refreshing your emails and wondering where the next booking is coming from.

And that uncertainty can make you question yourself:

Is this actually going to work?
Am I doing something wrong?
Should I just give up and get a “proper” job?

I want you to know that struggling to create consistent bookings doesn't mean you’re bad at business and it certainly doesn’t mean you’re bad at birth work, or that you should give up!

You may just need a clearer strategy for turning the brilliant work you already do into a business that brings in clients consistently and where your income reflects the effort you're putting in.

That’s what we’re going to work on inside my next FREE live masterclass: Making Birth Work Work.

đź“… Tuesday 15 September, 7pm Dublin, 8pm Belin, 2pm New York

And when you sign up, I'll also gift you free entry to the next BirthBiz Collective online networking & collaboration event.

If you’re ready to stop crossing your fingers and hoping the next client appears, come join me.

How to be a Gold Star Lactation Consultant

1. You don't have to cram appointments or tasks into ever minute of every day. Build white space into your schedule to allow space for things to come up (or time for an extra cup of tea!)
2. Support your colleagues, online and in real life. Community not Competition
3. Maintain your ethics and your independence, do not sell out to formula companies
4. You can have a thriving private practice without hustling yourself into burn out
5. Never get stuck in your thinking, clinically or in relation to your business
6. Be open to evolving, what your practice looks like now is not how it always needs to be

If you’ve been following all the “right” business advice… but your birth or lactation business still feels hard, awkward or like it just isn’t working…

You might not be the problem (in fact, I'd bet on it).

A lot of the business advice out there was created for online coaches, course creators and product-based businesses.

It assumes you can scale by selling more, automate your offers, create endless content and build a business around a model that just doesn’t reflect how birth work actually works right?

And when you try to force that advice into your business, it can leave you feeling like you’re doing something wrong (or just like giving up).

You’re not a bad 'business' person, and you definitely shouldn't quit.

All you need is a business strategy that actually takes into account the realities of working in birth and postpartum.

-Your capacity as a human working around your family
-Your client relationships
-The deeply personal nature of your work
-The fact that it's generally just you
-And your desire to make a decent living without burning yourself out

That’s exactly what we’re going to talk about in my FREE live masterclass:

Making Birth Work Work

đź“… Tuesday 15 September, 7pm Ireland/UK time
🎟️ Free to attend

In one hour, you’ll understand why business has felt harder than it should, what you actually need to focus on, and how to start talking about what you do in a way that makes sense to your ideal clients (and therefore they book!).

And you won’t have to figure it all out on your own anymore.
