Income Tax Return Filing: Extension of Pay & File Deadline through Revenue On-Line System (ROS) for 2014 Filing Obligation

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners has announced an extension to the ROS income tax return filing and tax payment date for certain self-assessment income tax payers in respect of their 2014 income tax position.

For income tax payers who file their 2014 Form 11 income tax return and make the appropriate payment through ROS in respect of both their 2014 income tax and 2015 preliminary tax liabilities, the due date for both filing and payment is extended to Thursday, 12th November 2015.

To qualify for the extension it is important to note that the income tax payer must both pay and file through ROS.

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners has kindly reminded taxpayers that there is a four-year time limit for claiming income tax refunds.

PAYE taxpayers seeking an income tax refund for 2010 must submit their claim to Revenue by 31st December 2014. You can do so on using PAYE anytime on Revenue’s website www.revenue.ie.

Important Income Tax Filing Notice

If you have an obligation to file an income tax return with the Office of the Revenue Commissioners for 2013, you should note that the filing date is 31st October 2014.

An extension to the filing date to 13th November 2014 is, however, afforded to self-assessed individuals who both pay and file with Revenue On-Line Service (ROS).

We strongly recommended that you pay any tax due and file your income tax return on time in order to avoid a possible surcharge, interest, penalties, along with the increased risk of an audit by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners.

Income Tax Return Filing: Extension of Pay & File Deadline through Revenue on-line System (ROS) for returns due in 2014

The Revenue Commissioners have announced an extension to the ROS income tax return filing and tax payment date for certain self-assessment income tax customers and for customers liable to Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT).
For taxpayers who file their 2013 Form 11 income tax return and make the appropriate payment through ROS in respect of:
• Preliminary Tax for 2014 and
• Income Tax balance due for 2013,
the filing and payment due date is extended to Thursday, 13th November 2014.
For beneficiaries who received gifts or inheritances with valuation dates in the year ended 31st August 2014 who make a CAT return and the appropriate payment through ROS, the due date is also extended to Thursday, 13th November 2014.
To qualify for the extension, customers must both pay and file through ROS. Where only one of these actions is completed through ROS, the extension does not apply and the required date to submit both the tax return and relevant payment is 31st October 2014.

Local Property Tax (LPT) Alert

The Revenue Commissioners have advised that property owners have a final opportunity to bring their LPT and Household Charge affairs up to date before the Revenue Commissioners launches a nationwide LPT compliance programme.

If you are a residential property owner and you:

• haven't paid the 2012 Household Charge; or
• haven't filed and paid your 2013 and 2014 LPT; or
• have undervalued your property; or
• have claimed an exemption you were not entitled to;

you have until 31 March 2014 to bring your LPT affairs (including the Household Charge) up to date to avoid interest and penalties.

An extension to the filing date is afforded by the Revenue Commissioners to 14th November 2013 for self-assessed income tax payers who both pay and file with Revenue On-Line Service (ROS).

Please note that if you have failed to file your local property tax (LPT) return the Revenue Commissioners may impose a surcharge of 10% of your income tax liability should the LPT Return remain outstanding at the date you file your income tax return.
