OUT OF THE BLUE || • Say hello to this beautifully sculpted bespoke design where striking form meets delicate, hand-finished detail. • ||
A very special bespoke headpiece ordered by my lovely customer Frances Foley, from Dublin, to perfectly complement her Penny cornflower-blue dress by Irish designer Helen McAlinden.
Frances wore her new headpiece to her son’s wedding on 20th June 2026 at the beautiful Dromquinna Manor in Kenmare, Co. Kerry.
This is the Capri Headpiece
A medium-sized perching cap base, hand-blocked in buckram and covered in the same cornflower-blue fabric as Frances’s dress, specially provided by the designer to achieve a perfect colour and fabric match.
It is adorned with a sculptural knotted bow with wedged tails, created in the same fabric, and one slender ivory quill.
The design is finished with clusters of individually hand-sewn silver and ivory pearls, faceted glass beads and metal silver leaves, with scattered crystal beads adding a subtle touch of sparkle across the base.
Very light and entirely hand-sewn, the Capri headpiece is lined in satin featuring ‘Tulip and Willow’, a William Morris design from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. It is finished internally with blue braided trim and secured with millinery elastic selected to blend discreetly with Frances’s hair colour for a comfortable fit.
The Capri Headpiece looks beautiful from every angle and can be made to order in a variety of colours, fabrics and finishes to complement your chosen outfit. For clients wearing Helen McAlinden, subject to fabric availability, material from the designer’s collection can be used to create your headpiece, allowing the fabric and colour to perfectly match your Helen McAlinden piece.
