Friendship Week "Think Smart".

We are beyond excited for Aoife Noone to come talk to our 1st and 2nd year students tomorrow about safety on the Internet and how it can affect friendships by how they treat each other on social media..

Great to have been able to share our insights from our work here at Think Smart Cyber, with the Irish Independent this week.

Some shocking insights and figures here from CyberSafeKids. This highlights the situation schools are now dealing with from the fall out of handing over these dangerously unsafe, unmonitored online environments/ platforms to young children. It’s not “if “ , it’s “when” the issues and challenges will kick in. Again it is the lack of education for both parents and children, along with proper regulation on big tech, that is the clear elephant in the room.

So much more work needs to be done here as we know Helen Mc Entee & Jim O'Callaghan TD John Connolly, and Anne Rabbitte TD. Children and teens online are dangerously navigating one serious Digital Warzone. The collective effort , resourcing and education in this space fast is the only thing that’s going to help change this.

We have a smartphonedemic and a social mediademic going on in this country and globally. The lack of action or slow pace of action will be felt for centuries to come if we all don’t wake up fast from what we have been sleep walking through for years, and the damage being caused.

One thing is clear here in the West .. we are continuing to waken our county and communities up one talk and one workshop at at time. We will not be stopping anytime soon.

More than half of Irish eight-year-olds from less advantaged areas now own a smartphone, which is twice the rate of those from wealthier backgrounds, according to new research.

“I feel that the mindset lesson helped me to not bring myself down. It motivated me to do things even if I think I am not good.”

💥 That's another 260 students from Galway to Longford trained up over 3 days with mindset tools for life to help them " Think Smart" set goals, up their results in any area, and protect themselves and their futures when online.

🕹️ They now fully understand how to control their smart devices and apps, before their devices take over and control them and lead them on a very different path in life.

👀 I show them the importance of their core values, protecting their digital footprint, and how to respond and deal with cyber-bullying using their new mindset tools for life.

🧐 I built this programme to make a lasting impact and change their way of thinking forever so that they use their powerful developing young minds and not lose them to social media, gaming and smart devices.

🧠 📲 If I don't see comments like this after each session, then I know I havn't done my job. I built this programme in a "certain way" for a reason. When they fully understand the power of their minds and how tech can impact this if not controlled, only then will they start to take control and be responsible for their online behaviours.

💪 It is up to our generation to help them, train them, guide them, safeguard them, and educate them to take back control from big tech in any way we can to protect them.

🚢 They must know how to become the captains of their ship and not let big tech steer this ship. They must know how to use tech to gain positive results in life not negative results.

💫 Another week, and hopefully another few hundred more young lives impacted and changed for the better.

🤔 What actions can we all take every day to make sure our youth "Think Smart" and don't lose their minds to big tech's putting profit over their safety and futures?
