Mantra Strategy Purpose-driven leaders and organisations can have greater impact to change the world for the better

29/04/2026

Lisa-Nicole filmed this from her car. Because sometimes that's the only minute you get.

And if that sentence just landed a little too close to home, this video is for you.

Every leader we're speaking to right now is carrying more than usual. Tighter budgets, more governance requirements, less margin for error. The to-do list that follows you home. The feeling that being strategic and being responsive are two things you're somehow supposed to do simultaneously.

You are not alone in that. It is not a reflection of how you're leading. It is the landscape right now.

So just for a moment, breathe. Check in with a peer. Join one of our free Impact Culture Sessions. And if you find yourself wondering what would actually happen if you stepped back from it all for a few weeks, sit with that question. The answer usually shows you what matters most.

We're here if you need us. ๐Ÿ’™

Something we covered in a recent Impact Culture Session has been coming up in a lot of conversations since.

AI transparency isn't a debate anymore. For many organisations, disclosure is now mandatory. The question has shifted from "should we?" to "how do we do this well?"

Because there's a difference between slapping a disclaimer on a post and genuinely building trust with your audiences around how you're using AI. Donors, funders, service users, they notice the difference.

Alan Thornton, Founder of Tipcan is offering a discounted power hour for anyone who attended the webinar to work through exactly this.

And here's a little secret... the discount code is tucked away in the webinar replay too. Message us and we'll send you the link. ๐Ÿคซ

Something we've watched happen over the past few months has stayed with us.

As the Community Foundation Ireland THRIVE Programme and the GROW leadership mentoring programme draw to a close, one thing stands out clearly: when organisations invest in the capacity of their leaders, the ripple effects go far beyond the individual.

Watching these leaders grow in confidence across their organisations, their teams, their own sense of what's possible, has been genuinely inspiring. It's a powerful reminder that leadership capacity isn't a nice-to-have. It's where mission delivery gets stronger and where long-term resilience is built.

And it raises a question for those working in the philanthropic sector: what if foundations invested not just in programmes, but in the people leading them?

Supporting the people behind the work often unlocks the greatest change. The logic isn't complicated. It just takes intention to act on.

If you work with or within a foundation thinking about this, we'd love to talk.

Something Lisa-Nicole hears a lot: "We're all working hard, but we're not quite pulling in the same direction."

It's one of the most common challenges we see across organisations of every size. Not a lack of effort. Not a lack of good people. But a gap between individual output and collective momentum.

The work of getting teams genuinely aligned, where people feel real ownership for shared goals, not just their own to-do list, takes more than a strategy day.

It takes honest conversation, the right facilitation, and sometimes a bit of a mirror held up to how things have always been done.

This is work we love doing at Mantra. With senior leadership teams, mid-management, small functional teams and everything in between.

If this sounds familiar, it might be worth having a conversation with us.

The Charities Regulator has published guidance on the role of the chairperson and it's worth pausing on.

Because the chair role sits at one of the most delicate points in any organisation: where governance meets leadership, where board accountability meets executive support.

It's a role that's often under-defined in practice even when the framework looks clear on paper.

Swipe through for the key takeaways, and what they mean for how your board operates day to day.

We've been reading Dan Pallotta's The Everyday Philanthropist and one idea keeps coming back to us.

Philanthropy isn't something that happens at a gala. It's a daily practice. And it's available to everyone.

For anyone working in the sector, that reframe is something to think about. We spend so much energy thinking about major donors and overhead ratios, and not nearly enough helping people see giving as something woven into ordinary life.

32 short chapters. Genuinely easy to read. Worth your next commute.

"We're intentionally starting with where the gaps are greatest."

That's the heartbeat of THRIVE. Not a leadership programme for the leaders who already have access to everything. For the ones driving real change in their communities, often with very little support behind them.

Family resource centres. Migrant rights. Rural regeneration. Youth development. These are not peripheral roles. They are the work. And the people doing it deserve the same quality of strategic support, peer connection and mentorship that leaders in better-resourced organisations take for granted.

THRIVE exists to close that gap. And we're only getting started.

If you're a philanthropic foundation or sector partner thinking about how to invest in leadership capacity across Ireland, we'd love to talk about what that could look like.

Fionn has interviewed celebrities from across the world. His YouTube channel, The Happiness Project, has accumulated over 5 million views. Heโ€™s a natural connector, a storyteller, and, as it turns out, someone with a very clear vision for where he wants to go next.

Together with his father Jonathan, heโ€™s now building that vision through Fionnathan Productions their shared venture focused on expanding the impact of those conversations.

When Fionn and Jonathan came to Mantra, we worked through a business model review together, exploring how the idea could grow in a way that felt sustainable, purposeful, and true to what theyโ€™re creating.

This is the kind of work we love most, sitting with people who already know their purpose and helping them build the structure to match it.

More to come on Fionn and Jonathanโ€™s story. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

"None of it matters if it isn't authentic. People really know when it isn't."

That's Lisa-Nicole in one of our most watched Impact Culture Sessions, and it still lands every time we hear it.

Diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging is one of those areas where good intent is everywhere.

Genuinely embedded commitment is rarer. And the people inside your organisation, your staff, your board, your volunteers, feel the difference immediately.

They aren't looking for perfection; they are looking for honesty about where you are and where you're trying to go.

If this is something your organisation is sitting with, our full Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Strategy Impact Culture session is on YouTube, link in comments. And if you'd like a conversation about where to start, reach out to us for a strategy call.

In a Year of Intention, even rest is a choice worth making on purpose.

We shared this video from Lisa-Nicole at the start of the year, but it feels even more relevant today. The week after Easter, when most of us are somewhere between refreshed and already back in the thick of it.

If you took the break: well done. That was intentional leadership.

If you didn't quite manage it: what would it look like to carve out that space before Q2 really takes hold?

The year is long. Pace yourself accordingly.
