📰 A little bit of news to share. Mantra and specifically Mantra Thrive has been recognised with a Bronze Stevie Award at the International Business Awards. It means a great deal to us, not least because we are only getting started, and are so early in our roll out of Thrive – but also because the work behind it belongs to so many people. Our clients, our partners, mentors, and a team who care deeply about doing this well.

Thrive has been a labour of love and passion, and a lot of work from a small team to make it come to life. The Stevies was also a wonderful process to go through because the breadth of international judges that give detailed feedback really helps us plan for what is needed to get to the next stage. To hone the product further, to help expand who gets to Thrive in business, charity and leadership.

The awards run a People's Choice vote that is open until Friday 11 September, and if you have a moment, we would be so grateful for yours. No pressure at all, only warmth and gratitude from us all if you do. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.

Thrive is Mantra’s membership for people leading purpose-driven work, with two ways to join:

On 17 September she'll be swapping warmth for cold water to raise awareness and much needed funds for a cause we've been proud to support.

Only four weeks to go until the Icy Plunge for Asthma, and this one is close to our heart.

Last year we worked with the The Asthma Society of Ireland to help shape an event that raises awareness and much needed funds, and it has grown into something people genuinely look forward to, cold water and all.

If you fancy swapping comfort for a proper cold water challenge, there's still time to sign up. And if plunging isn't for you, cheering on the people who take part and backing the cause makes just as much difference.

The leaders who came through Thriving Leader this year told us what changed for them through the programme and support.

More confident in the role. Better equipped for the decisions sitting in front of them. More connected to other people leading organisations through similar terrain, and more positive about the work ahead.

What they valued most was having a consistent space to think and talk. Somewhere to bring the difficult question, work through it with someone who understood the context, and leave with a clearer sense of the next move.

That space is what Mantra Thrive is built around, and it is what we will keep protecting as the programme grows.

Every so often a situation calls for a bit of structure. A difficult conversation coming up, a strategy that needs resetting, a culture that could do with a health check.

Thrive members have a growing library of practical tools ready for exactly those moments. Things like a culture temperature check, a strategy on a page, a brave conversations toolkit, an inclusive decision-making lens and a first hundred days guide. New ones are added all the time, built from the work we do with organisations every week.

Tools like these tend to work best when a whole team uses them together, which is why our Thriving Teams offer is running until the end of August. Sign your team up for six months and the first month comes free, giving leadership teams the space to build alignment and develop alongside each other.

Leadership in the summer months looks different. Half the team is away, the diary thins out, and the temptation is to treat it as a holding pattern until September.

We'd gently push back on that. The quieter stretches are often when the most useful thinking happens, when there's finally room to ask the bigger questions about where the organisation is heading.

Some of the best strategy work we've seen started with a leader using a slower month to think rather than to catch up.

If your summer feels quiet, that might be the point.
