As her first birthday approaches the focus is shifting to her communication…. Babbling, pointing, responding to her name.
Communication is so broad, I have to take off the SLt hat and focus on her and where she’s at and what she ready for! All will happen in her own time

This was such a challenging year but all my wonderful kiddies and their families made it possible to complete the year and that’s an achievement.

Books for the win.
Following the tag from the lovely .christina_geniusjuniors I figured I’d pop up some examples of my favourites.
Slide 1- sound books which offer simple word opportunities and vocal imitation, gross imitation, and gestures. Quick and easy for the short attention.
Slide 2. Wordless books- my ABSOLUTE favourite. So much potential with these and the story is always different so you never get bored. Lots of opportunities for single words, phrase, sentences. Super for creativity, spontaneous speech, conversations, thoughts, emotions! There are not even wordless books in my opinion!
Slide 3- look and find books great for listening and attention ideal for following instructions. Lots of different attributes throughout these books. Super for nouns, verbs, adjectives, great for turn taking, building interest and more!
Slide 4- interactive books; great for engagement, completing tasks, building interest, developing semantics.
That’s just a quick whistle stop your, I will always have a book in the car or in the bag, so versatile very engaging and lovely thing to enjoy in adulthood!

The lovely baby Disa accompanied me in session today!
Disa is the brain child of with with the original idea of working on expressing pain with children.
Today baby Disa and her dice were used to explore facial expressions and the book was used to explain the whys.
We also included why we might be sad, happy or angry.
Safe to say that Disa was a hit!

First week back since the Easter break and the dice from were used EVERYDAY
In some cases all dice were used, in others only one or two.
Some examples-
1. The disc was used to answer wh questions from a sequenced story (also from Speakeasy)
2. The dice was used to engage in movement and to break away from the table.
3. The dice were used to clap out syllables, listen to initial sounds and think of rhyming words!
So many bases have been covered with them.

Using blocks which are no longer used to write out the sounds we’re working on. Roll the vowel dice and build a CVC word. Simple. Effective. Engaging. Kiddie this morning very much enjoyed it!
