Anthropic cut the price of AI by 75% yesterday.

Cache reads went from $1.00 to $0.25 per million tokens.

Fable 5.1 on medium effort spends 23,801 tokens a task. Fable 5 on maximum spent 103,525 to score two and a half points higher. Same class of answer, quarter of the tokens.

Fable 5 also got worse the harder you pushed it. 25.2% on high, 23.6% on extra high. 5.1 climbs the whole way.

256GB of unified memory, 16TB of storage.

That is more than a brand-new electric car. More than a 10% deposit on a €207,790 house.

Quantised down, a 235B parameter model is about 142GB. So it fits in that memory with room to spare, on a desk offline, with none of your documents leaving the building.

I’m not saying this makes sense for most businesses. It doesn’t, yet. But Apple built it, which tells you where they’re heading.

Fable 5 is not exactly Mythos. It’s Mythos with safety limits on. The real model stays government-only.

Still the most capable Claude ever released publicly.

What to know:

1. Free on Pro/Max until 22 June • then usage credits. Anthropic filed to go public this week; they’re running compute at a loss. That’s why the window exists. After that: $10 per million input tokens. Double Opus 4.8.

2. Fable low effort ≈ Opus 4.8 extended thinking. Calibrate there first.

3. Hard classifiers • limits on cyber, bio, and model extraction queries. When triggered, it switches you to Opus 4.8.

4. Vision and persistent memory noticeably stronger

Google I/O 2026 had 19 AI announcements. These are the 6 I would actually use.

1. Google Search
AI Mode is moving from answers into agents, richer inputs, and generated UI.

2. Gemini 3.5 Flash
The model that matters because it is fast enough and cheap enough to become the default for coding agents.

3. Gemini Spark
Google’s personal AI agent. The key idea is persistence: something that can keep working between sessions.

4. Gemini Omni Flash
Video generation and editing from mixed inputs: text, image, audio, and existing video.

5. Antigravity 2.0
A desktop control surface for running multiple coding agents, subagents, and background tasks.

6. Ask YouTube
Conversational search for video. Less guessing the title, less scrubbing through long videos.
