North Kildare Beekeepers Association North Kildare Beekeepers Association (NKBKA) supports bee keepers throughout North Kildare and actively encourages newcomers to take up this fascinating hobby.

Week 1 — Tuesday 3rd March - Welcome & Course Introduction. Occupants of the Hive, their life cycle and functions for beginners.
Week 2 — Tuesday 10th March - The beekeeping year. Beekeeping Equipment and Clothing. Beekeeping Terms & Glossary. Forage and bee flora.
Week 3 — Tuesday 24th March - Spring & Summer Management. Weekly Inspections and Notes.
Week 4 — Saturday 28th March - Practical and interactive session covering hive types, hive/nuc/frame/sections assembly, smokers/fuel and extractors.
Week 5 — Tuesday 14th April - Adult bee diseases and pests. Bee Health & Hygiene. Health & Safety.
Week 6 — Tuesday 21st April - Swarms and swarming. Brood diseases.
Association apiary visits after course completion are included.

NKBKA Beekeeping Course 2024

The North Kildare Beekeepers' Association (NKBKA) annual Beekeeping course will commence on Tuesday 5th March at 8pm.

The course will run on every Tuesday until 14th May 2024

The Venue is the Church/ Old Cinema in Naas. (Eircode is W91PKN1)

In order to do the course you must be a paid Member of NKBKA .

Annual Membership of NKBKA runs from Jan - Dec and is €35.

The course is included as part of your membership.

Open Apiary demonstrations/visits in our Association Apiaries will follow on Saturdays throughout the summer.

These are led by our most experienced Beekeepers - and again this is all included in your membership fee - as are the monthly talks throughout the year.

The Course is a must for beekeepers no matter their level of experience.

The course will have a Hybrid option and the Zoom invite will be issued each Tuesday.

But face to face attendance is always better as the connections you make with experienced beekeepers will be invaluable.

REMINDER:
Castletown House Open day tomorrow Sun 13th. 11 -4pm.

North Kildare Beekeepers will be there with our stand and observation Hive, honey and lots of other interesting bee keeping resources.

This is a wonderful family day and a great opportunity to show our next generation the importance of bees in our environment. 🐝

So do come along and tell others about it if you can.
