Technology has quietly reshaped how hiring works.

Not in a dramatic, futuristic way, but in a practical one.
Today, most job applications pass through systems long before they reach a recruiter. This shift has changed how CVs are read, assessed, and filtered.

This doesn't mean the process is cold or impersonal.
It means it is structured.

The algorithm is not your enemy though. It is just doing its job. It scans CVs to understand who you are, what you do, and whether your experience aligns with the role being advertised.

🚫 But it can only work with what you give it.

When a CV is overloaded with design, broken into columns, or unclear about what someone actually does, the story gets lost. Key strengths are missed. Experience becomes harder to interpret. And sometimes, the CV never reaches human hands at all.

A strong CV makes your ability obvious.

🧩 Show your expertise through consistent job titles and relevant keywords.
🧩 State your strengths instead of assuming they are implied.
🧩 Explain your impact, not just your responsibilities.

That clarity helps systems recognise relevance. It also helps recruiters quickly see potential.

You do not need to strip your CV of personality. You just need to give it structure. Clean headings. Real job titles. Relevant keywords. A logical flow that reflects your career journey.

Where would any of us be if someone hadn’t taken the time to invest in our growth? Somewhere very different — and probably not for the better.

But these days, that privilege isn’t something we extend to others.
More and more, we see companies rejecting brilliant candidates because they’re missing one teachable skill.

Meanwhile, that same candidate has everything you can’t train:
🔥 the right foundation
🔥 the right technical training
🔥 the right mindset
🔥 the right aptitude
🔥 the right cultural fit

We forget that people are capable of learning - and under the right circumstances, they can learn a lot.

Maybe it’s time we relearn that.

We get hundreds of CVs. And honestly? About half of them look like they were slapped together on a phone with 3% battery...

No intro.
No structure.
No context.
Missing information everywhere ⚠️

And who exactly stands out?⭐ Candidates who put effort in.

✨ A strong introduction
Tell us how much you want the job and why you’re a good fit.

📝 A cover letter with context
Show us your career journey, strengths, ambitions, and growth.

📄 A proper CV — not just job titles! Show us:
• The companies you worked with
• The brands, tools, and systems you’ve used
• What you delivered
• What you learned
• How you contributed
• Why you moved from role to role
• And yes… references ✔️

Because if we can’t clearly see:
✅How you fit the role, and
✅How much you want it,
…then someone else will show us.

Why do you work with recruiters 🤔?
Because we’re experts... and where we really shine is sourcing the right candidate for roles that are the toughest to fill.

But here’s the reality (especially in Ireland):
For certain positions, the skill simply isn’t widely available. We see the data, the trends, the talent pool insights — we know exactly how many people in the market have those skills, what they want, and how many other companies you’re up against.

And in sectors with genuine skills shortages, we often see the “hunting unicorns 🦄” dilemma. Companies get so specific and so narrow in their requirements that the candidate they want just doesn’t exist in the market they’re operating in.

What does that lead to?

Between ChatGPT, Google, LinkedIn, Glassdoor and Reddit (to name a few)… researching a company before an interview doesn’t require CIA-level skills, and it definitely won’t take you an unnecessary amount of time.

In this day and age, there is zero excuse to walk into an interview without knowing who you’re speaking to or how to sell yourself.

Remember: You’re not just trying to impress them — you’re also figuring out if you can actually do the job, grow there, and enjoy working in that environment long term.

And guys… there is nothing worse for a hiring manager than asking, “Do you have any questions?” and getting a doe-eyed, “Uhm… no, I’m good.”

It’s 2025. Do the research. Walk in prepared. And own that interview.
