Today marks a historic milestone as the European Parliament formally adopted the world's first comprehensive law regulating - the AI Act. This groundbreaking legislation will shape the future development and use of AI across the EU and potentially set a global standard!

The establishes a robust framework for promoting trustworthy AI that is safe, ethical, and respects fundamental rights.

Key provisions include:
🟢 Banning certain high-risk AI practices like social scoring systems that judge people based on their behavior
🟢 Strict rules around the use of biometric identification and categorization technology
🟢 Prohibiting AI systems that exploit vulnerabilities or use manipulative / deceptive practices
🟢 Heavy fines of up to €35M or 7% of global turnover for non-compliance

The Act provides much-needed legal clarity for businesses while safeguarding citizens' rights. However, the hard work is just beginning.
