According to folklore, Lord Krishna journeyed from Nandgaon to Radha's town in Barsana during Holi. However, the spirited Radha and her friends playfully escorted Krishna and his companions out of Barsana using bamboo sticks.

This lively tradition is observed in Barsana and Nandgaon as Lathmar Holi, where women playfully wield sticks while men, fully equipped with protective gear, sing songs in good spirits in the days leading up to the main festival day.
