I strongly condemn such sweeping and derogatory remarks about Gen Z.
As a proud parent of two Gen Z daughters, I see this generation very differently. They are intelligent, independent, informed, and, in many ways, far ahead of where I was at their age.
They have access to information, verify facts before forming opinions, and are more inclined towards logic, rational thinking, and evidence-based discussions. They are confident enough to make their own decisions and courageous enough to take calculated risks.
I also see a generation that celebrates culture, traditions, and community with far less prejudice and hatred than we often assume. They aspire to contribute to nation-building without reducing every issue to political affiliations.
Yes, every generation has exceptions. But it is unfair to judge an entire generation by a few examples. Most Gen Z youngsters view education not merely as a pathway to employment, but as a means to gain knowledge, wisdom, and broader perspectives.
Instead of ridiculing them, we should mentor them, trust them, and create opportunities for them to sharpen their skills and realise their immense potential. Every generation evolves, and ours has the responsibility to guide—not belittle—the next.
Criticism is healthy when it is constructive. If someone wants to highlight shortcomings, a little wit or humour can make the point far better than insulting an entire generation.
Gen Z isn't "Generation Gutter." It's a generation full of potential, purpose, and possibilities.
