*Keeping it Real!*
Sukhraj writes: The massive cities are crumbling examples of failed designs that epitomise an unavoidable consumeristic lifestyle and it’s repercussions with overproduction, overconsumption, waste and the root of all problems, overpopulation. In the comforts of personal spaces, one doesn’t even get to see the bigger picture, with no transparency of where the products they consume come from, how they’re made and what happens to the waste one discards on a regular basis. No one is taking care of their needs directly, but via doing something else to make money to spend on the many options to address the needs, hence living in isolation from the reality. Money and opportunities aren’t available to all, so there’s a great social divide that’s heartbreaking. The landscapes are covered in jungles of concrete, poor air and polluted water. The chaos and weaknesses of these aspirational commercial centres is laid bare by the pandemic. One sure cannot ignore the mess while living in the heart of the problem.
Only when one seeks the truth of balance, there will be breaking of these stereotypes of modern civilisation. And that truth isn’t in the cities, not in the phones or magazines, not on tv, and certainly not in the markets and malls. Even in the countryside, nature is threatened by the invasion of urban aspirations and the visitors leaving their ‘mark’.
The truth may be found within if we sensitise ourselves to our surroundings. The universal good doesn’t have two meanings to suit differently. To appreciate nature and it’s gifts, and also to believe our climate is changing, one has to go where nature is powerful and let’s you peek into the secrets of change. Only when we will see both good and evil, the choice to make will be simplified. That’s the core philosophy at Indenium!
