If you sold property, redeemed mutual funds, bought a home, or made major investments this year, your return may need more than standard deductions and Form 16 details.

Key Notice Period & Separation Rules (As of 2026):
Final Settlement Deadline:

Companies must complete the full and final settlement, including salary, bonus, and leave encashment, within two working days of an employee's separation (resignation, dismissal, or termination). Contractual Supremacy: The duration of the notice period is primarily determined by the employment contract, typically ranging between 30 to 90 days, and the new codes do not introduce a blanket statutory period for all. Salary in Lieu: If a company terminates an employee immediately, they must provide salary in lieu of the notice period."Workmen's Protections: Under the Industrial Relations Code, "workmen" (defined as non-supervisory staff) are entitled to one month's notice or wages in lieu if terminated (retrenched).

NOTICE PERIOD RULE UNDER "NEW LABOR CODE" :-

Under the new Labour Codes (effective from Nov 21, 2025), notice period rules remain largely contractual (30–90 days), but the Code on Wages mandates employers to settle all dues, including wages, within two working days of resignation or termination. While contractual terms dominate, for 'workmen,' a one-month notice or salary in lieu is generally required for retrenchment
