Vapo’ is a generic term — no exclusive rights 🚫

The Madras High Court has ruled that the term “Vapo” is descriptive, generic, and publici juris, meaning it belongs to the public.

This means Procter & Gamble (Vicks VapoRub) cannot claim exclusive trademark rights over the word “Vapo” or stop competitors from using it.

⚖️ A strong reminder that generic terms cannot be monopolized under trademark law.
